Honda Refreshes The Jazzy JAZZ
Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. announced yesterday that the newly improved version of the unconventional Jazz, which pioneered the trend of 5-door hatchback compact cars around the world, is now available in Malaysia. The new Jazz gets jazzed up with enhanced and sportier styling, boosted safety and improved utility features, and a brand new vibrant colour – all adding to its convention defying ‘character’ and premium image.
Since its first introduction in 2001, Jazz has been winning over fans around the world with a combined total of more than 3.7 million units sold globally. According to Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia, Jazz has been the choice of smart couples and individuals in this market, who seek the combination of a stylish and fun to drive image, without compromising on the comfort, space and performance of a compact car.
He said, “Honda enthusiasts can expect the new Jazz to deliver even more value with new exciting styling, enhanced safety and practicality; and with all these enhancement and improvement, we are delighted to maintain Jazz price at RM109,800 (on the road with insurance), so as to offer Honda customers the satisfaction of owning a new, value-for-money and yet premium 5-door hatchback Jazz.” One of the key value-added features to the new Jazz is the Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®), a safety system which improves active safety of front wheel drive cars by stabilizing the vehicle during cornering to prevent lateral skidding.
On the exterior, the upgraded Jazz dons a new aerodynamic design that adds to its sporty and stylish look. This is the result of adding new front and rear bumpers that conform to the total aerodynamics of the car; and a new frontal mesh grille to compliment its overall sporty appearance. Additionally, the headlight is now accentuated with silver and matte coloured lights and the entire lighting system is boosted with a set of all new frontal fog lights and rear combination lights, sharpening the sporting edge and presence of the car.
Inside its cabin, the Jazz interior design is also refreshed to compliment the new sporty exterior. The interior space, which already features one of the best-in-class spaciousness, now embraces a new colour scheme — from the new combination of blue and black coloured materials for the seats and door panels; to a unified amber illumination for the speedometer and audio displays. This immediately portrays a sporty ambience which further heightens the driving pleasure of the new Jazz.
On top of this significant shift to sportier exterior styling and complimenting cabin designs, the new and exciting Jazz also features meticulous improvements on utility features based on customers’ feedback. This include a revised locking knob for the inner door handle with a new orange coloured highlight, new opening sound indicator to the fuel lid, and an orange marker on the air conditioning control, all of which improves recognition, operability and usability of these features.
Drivers of the new Jazz can expect the same technical performance of the 2nd generation model. Underneath its hood, the newly improved Jazz is powered by Honda’s 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine, which combines with 5-speed Automatic Transmission (5AT) to offer excellent drivability, performance and fuel efficiency. It commands a power output of 120 PS, which is the most powerful in its class. In terms of environmental friendliness, it has been designed to meet the EURO 4 emission level.
Similarly for safety performance, the new Jazz will continue to utilize Honda’s revolutionary G-CON Technology with body structure designed to spread out and disperse collision impact, so as to limit cabin intrusion to effectively minimise driver and passengers as well as pedestrian injuries. It will also be fitted with dual SRS airbags, ABS system and new safety features including center head rests in all three rear passenger seats for better shock absorption and head-neck protection in the case of cabin intrusion, as well as a full three point safety belt for the rear center seat (instead of the conventional horizontal seat belt).
The excitement of the new Jazz does not stop at styling, safety and usability enhancement – it is now available in a brand new vibrant and gleaming colour exclusive to the Jazz model only. Befitting of its convention defying image, the new Brilliant Orange Metallic will stand out on any road! Other colours of the new Jazz are Polished Metal Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Brilliant White Pearl.
