Hyundai Secures Multi-Year Official Automotive Partnership With The UEFA Champions League

Hyundai Motor Company has officially been named the Official Automotive Partner of the UEFA Champions League, entering a landmark multi-year agreement that spans from the upcoming 2026/27 season through to the end of the 2030/31 season.

The collaboration represents Hyundai’s deepest commitment yet to top-flight European club football. Expanding upon nearly three decades of high-level football partnerships—which have encompassed global FIFA tournaments, regional associations, and elite domestic clubs—the partnership connects the automaker directly to the world’s most prestigious annual club competition.

Working in tandem with UC3, the commercial joint venture between UEFA and the European Football Clubs (EFC) body representing more than 800 teams, Hyundai will use the 36-club tournament to showcase its next-generation electrified lineup, physical AI, and software-defined mobility ecosystem.

European Industrial Presence Meets Global Football Culture

The synergy between the two entities mirrors their operational structures: drawing international talent while maintaining deep operational roots across Europe.

  • European Footprint: More than 70 percent of Hyundai vehicles sold in the region are designed, engineered, and assembled within Europe.
  • Facilities & Network: Vehicle development is led by the European Technical Centre and European Design Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, with vehicle manufacturing handled at production facilities in the Czech Republic and İzmit, Türkiye.
  • Market Reach: The brand serves 42 European markets through a retail footprint exceeding 2,000 sales and service locations, recording over 603,000 deliveries in 2025.

IONIQ 3 Takes the Pitch: First of Five Major European Launches

Leading the visual campaign of the Champions League partnership is the all-new Hyundai IONIQ 3, an all-electric compact hatchback engineered specifically to conquer Europe’s fiercely contested C-segment:

  • Production Milestone: The model made its public appearance at Milan Design Week and recently entered mass production at Hyundai’s İzmit plant in August, making it the factory’s very first battery-electric vehicle.
  • Aero Hatch Efficiency: Features a streamlined aerodynamic profile with a low drag coefficient of 0.263 Cd, contributing to an estimated driving range of up to 497 km under the WLTP cycle.
  • Space and Practicality: Offers 441 litres of boot volume alongside a flat-floor cabin layout that maximizes passenger legroom.
  • PLEOS Connect Infotainment: The digital cockpit is anchored by a segment-leading 14.6-inch touchscreen running Hyundai’s next-generation PLEOS Connect operating system.

The IONIQ 3 serves as the opening salvo of a broader product offensive, marking the first of five major vehicle debuts scheduled across Europe during the 2026/27 season.

Multi-Powertrain Strategy and Electrification Goals

While the IONIQ 3 headlines the partnership, Hyundai continues to advance its flexible powertrain approach across Europe, balancing battery-electric vehicles (BEV), self-charging hybrids, plug-in hybrids (PHEV), hydrogen fuel-cell setups (FCEV), and internal combustion engines.

Hyundai Inster EV reveal

Following accolades such as the Hyundai INSTER winning 2025 World Electric Vehicle and the flagship IONIQ 9 securing Germany’s 2026 Premium Car of the Year, this five-year Champions League alliance positions Hyundai to accelerate its target of electrifying 100 percent of its European lineup by 2027.
