0Audi’s new 1.8 TFSI engine – 5.7l / 100 km
Audi has released details about its new 1.8 liter TFSI engine which will power the A5 family model. According to Audi, the new engine brings extra power and a 21 percent less fuel consumption compared to the previous unit. The new turbocharged petrol unit will develop 170 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque (236 lb-ft) with just 5.7 liters of fuel consumption in a combined cycle for every 100 km (41.27 US mpg), in the European version. The 1.8 liter four-cylinder TFSI will be mated to a manual transmission and the manufacturer says the A5 Coupe will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds stopping at its 230 km/h (143 mph) top speed. Being part of the new engine generation, Audi’s TFSI will emit just 134g/km of CO2. According to the German car manufacturer, the new engine is reducing so much of the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions that already complies with the future Euro 6 standard, which is scheduled for 2015.
