Samsung Hire’s Chris Bangle

Will the man who brought you the evergreen E60 5-Series bring you an evergreen tablet or mobile phone? Well Chris Bangle turned up in South Korea last week with news that he’s working with Samsung Electronics. The 55-year-old American, who spoke at a design seminar in Seoul, said he started work in March. It is rumored that Bangle will work “on specific projects, rather than being a member of the in-house team.”
Bangle didn’t reveal what kind of design work he’s doing for the electronics giant, but said he is “definitely” not creating mobile phones or tablet computing devices. Bangle left BMW in 2009 after 17 years as head of styling to form a design consulting firm near Turin. But he said he hasn’t left the auto world. “What I left was being inside the car company,” he told reporters in Seoul. “I didn’t really leave the car industry because I have clients now from the car industry.”
