HYUNDAI VELOSTER TO REACH MALAYSIA IN Q1, 2012

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) will be launching the new cutting-edge Veloster three-door coupe in the first quarter of 2012. “We have been receiving enquiries about the new Veloster from Malaysian car enthusiasts and I’m delighted to announce that this revolutionary three-door coupe, the first of its kind in Malaysia, will be arriving on Malaysian shores in the first quarter of next year,” said Mr Dennis Ho, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors.
The Veloster carves out a new space in the compact coupe segment. Its expressive styling and smart features such as the stealth third door, turns form and function into a powerful attraction. Its unique design takes inspiration from a high-performance sports bike. It has distinctive black A-pillars that give the glass a “motorcycle helmet visor” appearance. In the front is an aggressive form of Hyundai’s signature hexagonal front grille, hood scoop detailing, unique Hyundai-signature LED position lights and a massive panoramic sunroof. The available panoramic sunroof gives a good view to the top, and with the touch of a finger, transforms the comfortable cabin by filling it with air, energy and light.
It combines the style of a coupe and the functionality of a hatchback, while also incorporating an additional passenger-side door. In the past, some coupes have used smaller rear-hinged access doors. These coupes always require opening the driver-side door before the rear door could be opened, proving to be an inconvenience for both the driver and passenger, and extremely difficult to operate in tight parking. Hyundai’s fresh take implements a conventionally hinged door on the passenger side (curbside door) of the Veloster, providing safe and ready access to the surprisingly spacious rear seats. The passenger-side rear door handle is hidden to maintain the coupe’s fluidic design.
The Veloster’s convenient hatch with a boot capacity of 440 cubic liters and split fold-down rear seats make it versatile to transport your mountain bike, a dozen duffels, camping gears or whatever you may want to bring along for a trip. The Veloster’s low, coupe profile enhances its aerodynamics. Its’ smooth contours also provide lower fuel consumption. It features “Fluidic Sculpture” character lines, muscular wheel arches, bodycolour door handles and mirrors, and new design 6-LED decorated projection headlamps. The dynamic rear design is enhanced by its distinctive glass hatch, dual-centred chrome exhaust tips and black lower fascia that complements the assertive front fascia.
This sporty coupe is equipped with loads of premium features including a engine start/stop button and comes with a powerful 1.6L Gamma II engine that produces 132 horsepower and a 6-speed transmission. The Veloster 1.6L will be available in automatic and manual transmission. Complete specifications of this model will only be announced at the launch in Q1 next year. The birth of this new coupe is definitely a demonstration of Hyundai’s commitment in producing ‘modern premium’ vehicles with great features at an accessible price for its customers. With ‘New Thinking. New Possibilities.’ Hyundai is making it possible for more people to own their dream car.
