Over 100 Million GT RADIAL Tyres Sold In Over 100 Countries

The GT Radial range of tyres may be new to Malaysia but they have been selling globally for some years now. Officially in Malaysia for the 1st time, GT Radial yesterday had a demonstration of the capabilities at the Speed City Complex in Kuala Lumpur (Selangor Turf Club car park).
The Ride and Drive programme was to show the media the grip and durability of the range and send a message to drivers in Malaysia that a new option is now available for them when it comes to replacing their worn tyres.

“We feel the best way to promote our tyres directly is to put our guests behind the wheel of a car fitted with our tyres. This way, they can feel for themselves how a car performs running on GT Radials,” said Arijanto Notorahardjo, General Manager Marketing of PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk, the Indonesian-based tyre manufacturer that will oversee the production and development of GT Radial tyres for the Malaysian market.

Also present at the event were representatives from Proton, with whom PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk has an OEM agreement to supply tyres for Proton models such as the new Prevé and the Exora.
“The partnership with Proton is a sign that our tyres are gaining acceptance in Malaysia,” said Arijonto. “We intend to promote our tyres to other car companies in this country, as we feel that GT Radial tyres are a suitable choice for Malaysian driving applications.”

Guests at the event were also treated to driving demonstrations, designed to showcase the capabilities of GT Radial, by race car drivers Kenny Lee from Malaysia, and Australians Chris O’Shannessy, Ro Charlz, David Russell and Joel Neilsen, brought in especially for the event.

Various cars, including the new Proton Prevé, were available at the event fitted with the range of GT Radial tyres such GT Radial Champiro BAX-2;

GT Radial Champiro Eco;

and GT Radial Champiro HPY.

GT Radial, an internationally recognised brand of tyres, is currently available in Malaysia from selected distributors. The GT Radial product range includes tyres for passenger cars, 4x4s, track car and commercial vehicles. The product range available in Malaysia are the Champiro range, HPY, BAX2 and Eco, with the Maxmiler CX for commercial vans and a comprehensive range of commercial tyres for heavy trucks.

“We look forward to the opening of the GT Radial concept stores in Penang as we look to reach out to motorists and manufacturers up north of Malaysia” he added when asked about the company’s strategic plans.

GT Radial is one of the largest tyre brands in the world with production of over 30 million tyres a year. It is exported to over 100 countries. For its distribution in Southeast Asia, the tyres are produced and developed by PT Gajah Tunggal in Indonesia. Further information on GT Radial is available at www.gtradial.com.my
