REPSOL DEBUT’S WITH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

After much success in the motorsports industry, 2012 sees Repsol venturing into the touring car championship with the China Dragon Racing Team.  This automotive racing team, which is participating in the 2012 Hong Kong Touring Car Championship (HTCC) and the Touring Car Series Asia (TCSA), is currently in town to participate in the Malaysian Super Series (MSS).  The MSS race, held during this weekend, the 13th July until 15th July 2012, at Sepang International Circuit (SIC), will witness a total of 5 cars under its livery.
Among the 5 cars contending, there will be 3 Honda Integra Type R DC5 participating in the HTCC N2000 series.  These super cars will be driven by Sunny Wong, Alex Hui and Andrew Lo.  At present, the China Dragon Racing Team is lying second in the team championship category, after completing 4 rounds in the Guang Dong International Circuit in China.
The other two participating cars are Chevrolet Lacettis, the former World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) winning car, with drivers Paul Poon and Samson Fung, who won the HTCC S2000 class, team and drivers championship for the China Dragon Racing Team in 2011.  Additionally, their 2011 feat was also a milestone for the team as for the first time, the team accomplished a one-two finish in the 2011 Macau CTM Touring Car Cup.
The China Dragon Racing Team is looking forward to a positive weekend ahead at Sepang, and is counting on their 14 years of racing experience to help them achieve the results they desire.  Furthermore, this being the team’s third time in Sepang, on top of the fact that 4 of its drivers have experience in this race circuit, the China Dragon Racing Team should be among the top contenders at the MSS 2012.

Speaking on behalf of Repsol, UMW Manufacturing and Engineering Executive Director, Encik Megat Shahrul Azmir, said, “We are pleased to be part of this championship.  It is with great pride that I say that Repsol’s participation here proves that its lubricants are the trusted choice of high performance vehicles.  Being a part of top automotive championships like, the MotoGP, the Malaysian Rally Championship (MRC), the HTCC and the TCSA, proves that Repsol lubricants can withstand the high temperature and competitive conditions endured during races without problems.  I believe this is only the beginning for Repsol, as we are hoping to further support the Malaysian motorsports industry through this initiative.  For now, it’s time to just sit back and enjoy the race.”
