Nissan SERENA S-HYBRID finally in Malaysia at RM149,500.00
Nissan unveiled the much anticipated all-new SERENA S-HYBRID – Malaysia’s first hybrid MPV. The all-new SERENA S-HYBRID has best-in-class fuel economy (15.2km/L based on the Japan JC08 test cycle) with a spacious interior that offers up to 14 seat configurations – the ideal choice for MPV users who appreciates 8-passenger seating, innovative utility and supreme comfort. At the launch, Mr. Tan Keng Meng, Director of Marketing and Product Planning said, “ In line with the government’s policy over the past few years to promote hybrid and Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) in Malaysia, we at ETCM are very optimistic about the launch of this all-new Nissan SERENA S-HYBRID. We believe our hybrid MPV will be well-received by families who desire a spacious MPV with high technological content that yields class-leading fuel efficiency. The initial reception by customers during the pre-launch period has been tremendous.
The powertrain of the new SERENA S-HYBRID is a simple yet compact hybrid system incorporating the new MR20DD 4-cylinder DOHC petrol engine with direct-injection, Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) and the latest generation XTRONIC CVT with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). Its ECO electric motor serves as an auxiliary power source to provide engine assistance and power regeneration. The hybrid system also adds an additional battery unit for increased storage capacity to power the ECO Motor.
The S-Hybrid system also features an Idling Stop System which automatically switches off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop in traffic, helping the SERENA S-HYBRID to achieve a good fuel economy in city driving. The engine starts again within 0.3 seconds when the brake pedal is released. The rated output of the MR20DD engine is 147ps at 5,600rpm and 210Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. Based on the Japan JC08 test cycle, the SERENA S-HYBRID is able to achieve 15.2km/litre.
Additionally, the interior space of the SERENA S-HYBRID is the also the largest and most flexible in its class, able to accommodate up to 8 persons while offering 14 different seating configurations. The versatility of the cabin is enhanced by the “Smart Multi Centre Seat” that can slide along the centre aisle of the vehicle. It can function as additional storage in the first row, as an extra seat in the second row, or even as a tray table to be shared with third row passengers.
Getting in and out of the Nissan SERENA S-HYBRID is very convenient with the powered sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle. Just one touch is required on the door handle to operate the sliding doors which offer the largest opening in its class (802mm wide and 1,308mm tall) for ease of ingress and egress. The one-touch operation also extends to the i-Key fob and dashboard-mounted buttons on the driver side.
Unlike conventional MPVs, the SERENA S-HYBRID’s third row can be accessed in different ways – either through the centre walk-through or the left side, this is achieved by sliding the second row’s captain’s chair (left side) against the one on the right. The third row seating is also designed to be easily flipped up and stowed, creating a huge cargo space. This is in addition to the storage space located beneath the luggage tray which can easily accommodate a baby stroller or a golf bag.
The exclusive and distinctive exterior features of the Nissan SERENA S-HYBRID include blue headlight inner lenses, high-intensity LED rear combination lights, a clear LED High Mount Stop Lamp. Inside, the driver is greeted by a futuristic yet flowing dashboard design showcasing the sophisticated Eco Driver Navigator that can guide the driver to maximize fuel efficiency.
The Nissan SERENA S-HYBRID is fully-imported from Japan and is competitively priced at RM149,500. It is available only in the premium Highway Star grade with unique front grille and bumpers, larger 16in alloy wheels combined with sports suspension and a dark interior trim. Exterior colour choices are Dark Purple, Super Black, Brilliant Pearl White and Brilliant Silver and it comes with a warranty of 3 years or 100,000km (whichever comes first). Test drives can also be arranged at Nissan showrooms.
