Digi’s one-stop source of auto information may soon be at your fingertips

1Auto app idea wins in Ideation phase of DiGi Challenge for Change 5. Have you ever wished for an auto manual that is more than your usual thick stack of pages? Perhaps, have you considered that your smartphone could do so much more to help with auto maintenance?

What was once wishful thinking may soon become reality, with Asharudin Abdul Buhari’s app idea ‘1Auto’ emerging the winner for the Learning & Edutainment category, during the Ideation phase of the DiGi Challenge for Change 5.

Targeted for first time car owners and lady drivers, Asharudin, 23, wants to use his app 1Auto to enable the sharing of tips for easy car maintenance as an alternative to visiting the local mechanic. The app allows users to identify and offer solutions to troubleshoot the problems the car might be having and even enables mileage racking for car service reminders. Asharudin, who is currently in telemarketing, envisions the app to be a one stop solution to complement the car owner’s manual, providing information on almost every car model available in Malaysia.

“The detailed step-by-step guide for simple maintenance by an average person can help them save money. In addition, the troubleshooting guide will help prepare car owners prior to visiting the auto workshop,” Asharudin said.

In the DiGi Challenge for Change 5, Malaysians were called to submit ideas for apps during the Ideation stage – in one of four categories: Learning & Edutainment, Health & Wellness, Discovering Culture, and Connected Citizen respectively. DiGi also announced a surprise category – DiGiZens’ choice, thus 5 apps will proceed to the upcoming App Development phase. In this phase, local app developers will be tasked to develop mobile apps based on the five selected ideas, which will later be available for public download.
