Ford Fast Tracks China With 88 New Dealerships

2015 Ford Edge

Ford opened 88 new dealerships in China on June 19. Currently, the U.S.-based car manufacturer has a total of 750 showrooms in China and the number is expected to hit 800 milestone by the end of this year.

“With the growth momentum we have going right now, we expect to exceed 800 dealer points in China by the end of 2014. This rise in sales has both underlined the need for dealer network expansion and attracted new dealers to the Ford brand”, said Marin Burela, president and CEO of Changan.

In the same day, Ford CEO Alan Mulally traveled to China to visit the Shanghai Jiuhua West Dealership. As you may have read, Mulally is set to leave Ford in less than 3 weeks. According to the same report, three-quarters of the new showrooms are located in the so-called Tier 4 cities. These are smaller cities with millions of people and it is expected to see a big vehicle demand.
