Toyota Still Top Brand In The World
For the 11th year in a row, Toyota is ranked as the best automotive brand. The Japanese brand, named after the founding family, topped all automotive brands in Interbrand’s annual ranking this year. It was followed by German carmakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Overall, Toyota was the 8th most valuable brand in the world in the rankings, which is dominated by Apple, Google and Coca-Cola.
Toyota was 10th in 2013. Among the 100 top brands in the list, 13 were names from the auto industry like newcomer Land Rover (91st overall). Ferrari failed to make the list this year after being ranked 98th in 2013. Mercedes-Benz managed to break into 10th place after lurking as No. 11 in the last two years. BMW jumped to 11th after being placed at 12th in 2013. Honda remains at 20th place while Volkswagen leaped three spots to 31st. Ford also leaped three spots to 39th from 42nd in 2013. Just a place away is Hyundai, which also leaped three spots to No. 40.
The Audi marque jumped six places to 45th this year from 51st in 2013 while Nissan leaped nine places to 56th. Porsche surged four places to 60th. South Korean brand Kia leaped nine spots to 74th in Interbrand’s 2014 rankings. General Motor’s Chevrolet brand jumped seven places to 82nd this year. Interbrand’s 15th annual ranking was based on brands’ financial performance, influence on customer choice, and price and earning strength.
Interbrand’s top 10 brands are as follows: Apple (1st), Google (2nd), Coca-Cola (3rd), IBM (4th), Microsoft (5th), GE (6th), Samsung (7th), Toyota (8th), McDonald’s (9th) and Mercedes-Benz (10th).
