BERMAZ Sponsors Golf Prodigy Kelly Tan
In Mazda, they not only build cars, they also help to build young talents. For it is the young who will shape the future as well as give immense pride. In sports, particularly, every once in a rare while comes along a rare talent that clearly deserves nurturing. Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd has the good fortune of discovering, not one but two very promising young golfers who would surely go on to great things, given the proper assistance.
As part of Bermaz’s corporate social responsibility, the company intends to nurture such young talents in the sports arena and to provide assistance to these exemplary golfers by reducing the substantial cost of participating in tournaments.
Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd is pleased to announce its sponsorship of two young remarkable and rising Malaysian golf players. The two sponsorship recipients are Kelly Tan Guat Chen and Ainil Johani binti Abu Bakar. Ainil was the first recipient of Bermaz’s sponsorship in August this year. Subsequently, Kelly will be the second recipient of the year. The sponsorship will serve as financial support to fund major expenses while on tour, such as tournament fees and travelling fees.
The sponsorship came to be when a shared perspective and vision was realised. Mazda’s “Never Give Up Attitude” philosophy is seen in the Mazda engineers that defy convention and pushes boundaries by producing the world renowned “SKYACTIV Technologies”; which has garnered international awards for its revolutionary impact on fuel efficiency vehicles. The SKYACTIV Technology is now adopted in most of the Mazda new generation vehicle range. This is the attitude shown by these young lady golfers who clearly possess the challenger spirit in pursuing their dreams.
Similarly, Mazda’s current “Soul of Motion” design is described as the power and elegance of a wild animal about to pounce on its prey. The Mazda’s body styling is sculpted with athletic and vibrant lines, similar to those that define the game of golf at the highest level.
Kelly Tan Guat Chen is currently competing in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour with a Rolex ranking of 235. Kelly is the second Malaysian ever to play on the LPGA Tour, and even more remarkably, she had qualified for the Tour on her first attempt. Kelly is also one of the top 60 ladies golfers qualified to play in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janerio.
Ainil Johani binti Abu Bakar, also a ladies professional, won the KENDA Tire TLPGA Open Taiwan during her Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) in 2013. Ainil is the first Malaysian to be part of the Ladies European Tour (LET), ranking 136th in the LET’s Order of Merit. Ainil, like Kelly, has earned herself an elite spot in the 2016 Olympic Games.
With the financial support from Bermaz, both Kelly and Ainil will be able to concentrate on taking their golf careers to a whole new level.
Golf has become a very dynamic and high profile global game, drawing legions of young players and thereby making the competition very intense. Malaysia has a chance to make its mark, thanks to the tenacity displayed by these two young lady golfers. By doing our part, Bermaz hopes our young warriors can attain their hero status, and in the process inspire even more talents to come forth.
