Perodua Launches ‘GearUp’ Accessories For Axia Models

Perodua today launched their new official accessory line called GearUp, which aims to satisfy their customer’s demands for additional customisation options at an affordable price. The first batch  of GearUp accessories are tailored for the Axia, Perodua’s smallest and cheapest hatchback offering, with the new Myvi receiving its own in May.

Perodua’s President and CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, indicated that the GearUp project has been in the pipeline for about two years now. One of the main objectives of this new brand of accessories was to provide potential Perodua owners a way to factor in the cost of the accessories into the monthly instalments.

Emphasising this point, Datuk Aminar stated that, “customers can order the accessories for their Perodua vehicles and its cost can be included with the hire-purchase package. The cost added will have a minimal effect to the monthly payment amount.”

As the GearUp brand consists of original Perodua parts, they come with a 6 month warranty. Perodua have carried out wind tunnel and heat tests to ensure they are of the highest quality and are aerodynamically sound. Let’s take a look at some of those accessories.

The Advance and SE variants of the Axia have the ‘Sporty GearUp Bodykit’. For the exterior, this consists of a new large front grille, front and rear bumpers, and side skirting. Over on the inside, there are new seat covers that feature a honeycomb design with red accents and stitching that’s matched on the door trim.

The interior of the Axia Standard receives a similar upgrade, with a diamond pattern on the seat covers topped off with grey stitching. The bodykit available for the Standard trim is called Elegance, and its cosmetics feature an upgrade as well.

The GearUp packages aren’t merely aesthetic. For instance, both packages feature heavy dampening material on the inner doors and hood, which reduce the NVH of the ride.

Customers who purchase any of the accessory packages before 31st August 2015 will enjoy a 15% discount (details below), but to those who want to select individual upgrades, there are options that start at just under RM390.
