Asian Le Mans Series 2015 in Fuji Update
With 8 weeks to go to the first round of the 2015/2016 Asian Le Mans Series in Fuji, 13 cars have already been entered and some more are likely to join the field.
A mix of LMP and GT teams representing an international roster of teams, drivers and brands – Audi, BMW, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche for the GT and Ligier, ADESS and Oreca for the LMP.
Recently crowned 2015 24Hrs of Le Mans LMP2 Class winner Richard Bradley rejoins Eurasia Motorsport (Philippines), the team he won the 2010 Formula BMW Pacific Championship with, in pursuit of more LMP accolades. He will be facing stiff competition from former European Le Mans Series contenders Race Performance (Switzerland) which will be making its debut in the Series.
2013 and 2014 Asian LMS LMP2 and Driver Championships winner David Cheng also returns, albeit in the newly launched LMP3 class with a Ligier and his own team, DC Racing (China). The new LMP3 class will also see the racing debut of the ADESS-03 LMP3, entered by Team AAI.
GT teams such as Spirit of Race (Switzerland) operated by AF Corse, Nexus Infinity (Malaysia), ARC Bratislava (Slovakia) will be making their Asian LMS debuts this season against established teams such as 2014 Asian LMS GT Champion Team AAI from Taiwan which set a milestone of being the first Taiwanese team to race in the 24Hrs of Le Mans for 2015. Team AAI’s efforts will be bolstered by BMW Factory Driver Dirk Mueller, who will be making his debut in the Series. Well known Asian teams Clearwater Racing (Singapore) with reigning GT Asia champion Mok Weng SUN, KCMG (Hong Kong) and Absolute Racing (China) will also be chasing Asian LMS GT glory this season.
