Ford more than doubles their third quarter earnings this year

2015 has been kind to Ford Motor Company. It’s only the third quarter, and they’re seeing all kinds of growth and improvements in performance- not least of which the 129% increase over last year’s net income. Part of this is owed to Ford’s immense sales in North America, ranking as the highest in terms of vehicle sales.

Performance in North America has largely been attributed to the production and sales of the F-150 pickup truck. We don’t get this beast of a pickup here, but the Americans have had a long love affair with the perennial people and product mover. It’s the best third quarter for the F-series line since 2006- a good indicator of Ford’s performance.

As for the rest of the world, Ford has moved up by 0.3% in terms of overall market share. Not a huge amount, but given that Ford doesn’t have the scale or the production efficiency of the Japanese, it’s a good amount of growth. After all, any amount of growth is better than a decline. In Europe, Ford has become the best selling commercial vehicle brand- a strange choice for the Europeans.
