Audi Launches New R8 LMS car for Asian Customer Teams

Audi has launched the next generation R8 LMS for its Asian customer teams. Audi Hong Kong will for the first time field the new, more powerful GT3 car at the inaugural FIA GT World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix from November 1922. Audi Hong Kong unveiled the Macau entry today as it announced partnerships with Phoenix Racing and AAPE BY A BATHING APE, whose distinctive livery makes the no. 30 entry instantly recognizable. Audi Hong Kong driver Marchy Lee, who finished third in the Audi R8 LMS Cup 2015, will race the new R8 LMS car at its Macau debut.

The next generation of the Audi R8 LMS features improved aerodynamics, the Audi lightweight technology expertise, and delivers up to 585 hp. Following in the footsteps of its successful predecessor, the Audi R8 LMS was developed specifically for GT racing and is suited for both sprint and endurance races. The car will also be part of the Audi R8 LMS Cup for the 2016, season and is now available for customers to order.

While Phoenix Racing makes its Macau debut this year, the successful German team has been a partner of Audi Sport customer racing Asia throughout the 2015 season. In addition to racing with Phoenix Racing at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Lee also competed with the team in the Blancpain Endurance Series this season. In the new partnership with AAPE BY A BATHING APE, Lee’s no. 30 car will be liveried in the brand’s iconic red and grey in a camouflage pattern, with the Hong Kong driver’s helmet and race suit to match.
