2016 Range Rover Evoque Facelift Model Launched in Malaysia
Jaguar Land Rover (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has launched the enhanced 2016 version of its fastest-selling model, the Range Rover Evoque. The luxury compact SUV now comes with new features that are set to boost its appeal as one of the most desirable models in a segment that it pioneered.
More than 400,000 units of Range Rover Evoque have been produced since its introduction in 2011, making the premium compact SUV the fastest-selling Land Rover of all time. 2014 marked the Evoque’s most successful year to date, with 125,364 units sold around the world. In Malaysia, JLRM has put more than 1,600 Evoques on the road as of November 2015. This sales success has been accompanied by critical acclaim, as the Range Rover Evoque has won more than 165 international awards since launch.
For the model year 2016, Range Rover Evoque’s cutting-edge exterior design has been further enhanced with a selection of carefully chosen revisions. These subtle but classy updates include a new front bumper and grille design, Xenon headlamp with new LED signature daytime running lights (DRLs), rear lamps with signature DRLs that match the front, fog lamps, and tailgate spoiler with discreetly integrated third brake lights that emit even light distribution.
The centrepiece of the highly-distinctive cabin is a new infotainment system, accessed via an eight-inch touchscreen, with a clear, intuitive user interface called InControl™ Touch featuring easy-to-navigate menus. It allows users to swipe between screens just like a smartphone. Bluetooth® audio and phone capability, an eight-speaker stereo system and USB connectivity are included.
New front seats and door casings combined with a redesigned instrument binnacle promote a sophisticated ambiance to the overall interior. The redesigned speedometer and rev counter dials feature a clean, modern look with an all-new five-inch, high-resolution TFT display that provides useful information such as fuel range, gear position and ambient temperature. New premium soft-touch materials also create improved levels of quality.
Powered by a 240PS/340Nm Si4 2.0-litre petrol engine matched to an advanced ZF nine-speed automatic transmission, the new 2016 Range Rover Evoque can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 7.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 217km/h.

The new 2016 Range Rover Evoque for the Malaysian market will also feature grained leather seats with 12-way electric adjustment for both the driver and front passenger in a selection of Ebony Black, Almond/Espresso and Lunar/Cirrus colours. The car comes with 19-inch rims as standard and the new fixed panoramic roof as an option.
The main highlight among the myriad of new driver-assistance and consumer-centric features must be the Powered Gesture Tailgate, which is a standard feature in the new Evoque.
The Powered Gesture Tailgate adds a new dimension to the convenience of Evoque ownership. It allows the owner to automatically open the powered electric tailgate without keys when their hands are full, by briefly waving their foot beneath the rear bumper. Two sensors located either side of the tailgate detect movement, which triggers the system when the vehicle keys are within close range. This ensures the sensors cannot be activated unintentionally, for instance by animals venturing beneath the rear bumper. Unlike competitor systems, Evoque’s Powered Gesture Tailgate can be activated both from directly behind the vehicle, and from either side of the bumper for enhanced versatility.
Being a Land Rover at heart, the 2016 Range Rover Evoque comes with Terrain Response® which allows the vehicle’s steering, throttle response, gearbox, centre-coupling and braking/stability systems to be precisely tailored to the demands of the terrain. The system features four settings: General; Grass/Gravel/Snow (for slippery conditions on- and off-road); Mud and Ruts; and Sand.
