Double Victory for Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in Italian GT Championship at Vallelunga

Lamborghini Huracán GT3s have made it two wins out of two in the fifth of the seven rounds of the Italian GT Championship, which has taken place this weekend at Vallelunga. The first of the two races held on the Roman circuit ended with an extraordinary “one-two” for the cars of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese and the team Ombra Racing obtained the first success of the season. Stefano Gattuso and the Lamborghini GT3 Junior Driver Alex Frassineti managed to impose a shrewd and profitable pace and, during the last part of the race, the former reached the leading position and crossed the finish line ahead of the other Lamborghini of the team Antonelli Motorsport shared by Alberto Di Folco and Riccardo Agostini.

These latter two young talents from the GT3 Junior Program of Lamborghini Squadra Corse scored their second victory in Race 2, after that obtained last July at Mugello. A win resulted from the second fastest time during qualifying set by Riccardo Agostini, who then maintained his position, thanks to a very fast driving stint. During the second driving stint, the work was completed by Alberto Di Folco, who, after taking over the wheel from the Paduan driver, managed to reduce the gap of over 12 seconds separating him from the Ferrari 488 GT3 of Ferdinando Geri and conquered the leading position, during the 24th lap and maintained it until the finish line.

It is worth mentioning also the excellent third place obtained in Race 2 by the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of the team Imperiale Racing, with Mirko Bortolotti and Jeroen Mul behind the wheel. The GT3 Factory Driver started from the third place and lost positions at the start because of a contact. A comeback from the back thanks to fast laps enabled Mirko Bortolotti to hand over the car to the GT3 Junior Driver Jeroen Mul in fifth place, after the first driving stint. The Dutch driver completed the work and, after some spectacular overtakes, he led the Huracán GT3 towards the third final position.

With the two rounds of Imola and Mugello still to race (scheduled respectively on September 24-25 and October 15-16), the two GT3 Junior Drivers, Riccardo Agostini and Alberto Di Folco, maintain their third position in the championship, but they are only seven points behind the Audi R8 LMS of the leaders Felipe Albuquerque and Marco Mapelli.

During the same weekend of September 10-11, the fifth round of the International GT Open was held at the Red Bull Ring circuit. On the Austrian track, the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Orange 1 Team Lazarus got the second place in Race 2, while it arrived seventh the previous day. Thanks to this result, the Italian crew, formed by Thomas Biagi and the Lamborghini GT3 Junior Driver, Fabrizio Crestani, continue dominating the championship standings at two rounds before the end of the season.
