Volvo S60 Has Been Accorded EEV Status, Bringing Price Down

Volvo Car Malaysia is pleased to announce that the S60 T6 which is equipped with the Drive-E powertrain, is now recognised as an Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV). With this new status, the S60 T6 will enjoy a reduction in retail price. The new price of RM238,888 shaves RM42,000 off the original price of RM280,888.

The EEV status awarded to the S60 T6 is a proud testament of Volvo’s new Drive-E powertrains technology, which promises increased performance without sacrificing fuel consumption or increasing harmful emissions.

“Our Drive-E powertrain technology is focused squarely on delivering responsive power, clean efficiency and an exceptional driving experience. Using our advanced boosting solutions, we are able to get the best out of our precisely-designed engines,” said Lennart Stegland, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia.

The S60 T6 delivers one of the best in-class performance, doing the century sprint in only 5.9 seconds. This is achieved by using a super- and turbocharger combination which results in a big, naturally-aspirated feel with high amounts of torque available across a wider range.

The T6 engine equipped on the S60 outputs a maximum 306 hp at 5,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 2,100 and 4,800 rpm. All of this power is managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission with two overdrive gears that conserves fuel when cruising at constant speeds.

The combination of these technologies help the S60 T6 deliver only 6.7 litre / 100 km (NEDC combined cycle) in terms of fuel consumption. This means that the current T6 engine produces more power, uses less fuel and produces fewer emissions than the previous engine.

The S60 T6 comes standard with Dynamic chassis which has an alert, quick-responding design that puts the focus on the driving experience without diluting the impression of a comfortable ride.

In addition, the steering gear ratio responds faster to give an enhanced steering feel and sharper response. The steering column’s thicker tubing and stiffer bushes increased torsional rigidity by 100 percent. This also contributes to the increased feeling of direct contact with the wheels and the road.

The revised retail pricing will come into effect on 8 September 2016.
