Experience Nonstop Action for 12 Hours Straight

The 2016 MOTUL Sepang 12 Hours, the classic Malaysian endurance race, returns to the Sepang International Circuit this week. Fans will be treated to nonstop action from noon to midnight at Sepang. Be sure to catch the final event in the inaugural Intercontinental GT Challenge as the top GT and Touring cars battle to the last second for the driver’s and manufacturer’s titles.

The 2016 edition of the MOTUL Sepang 12 Hours features some of the best GT drivers and teams, with entries in the GT3, GTC, GT4 & Sports Production, Touring Production, TC and Marc cars classes. Major teams from the USA, Australia, Europe and Asia are taking part, so GT fans can watch some of the world’s top sports cars in action, including the Porsche 911 GT3R, McLaren 650S GT3, Audi R8 LMS and Lexus RC350. Also present will be various models by marques such as Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Toyota, Ginetta, Honda, Subaru, Seat and Ford.

This year’s race sees a three-way fight for the inaugural Intercontinental GT Challenge driver’s title. Laurens Vanthoor from Audi Sport Team Phoenix who leads the standings is just 6 points ahead of K-PAX Racing’s Shane Van Gisbergen, while his Audi Sport Team Phoenix teammate René Rast is in third place, just one point behind Gisbergen. With just a few points separating the title contenders, fans can expect to see a fierce race between the top three GT racers for the world title.

In the GT3 category, American team K-PAX has entered its Pirelli World Challenge-winning McLaren 650S GT3, with driving duties shared by Alvaro Parente – the Pirelli World Challenge drivers’ title winner, and Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup winners Come Ledogar and Shane Van Gisbergen.

Meanwhile, the number of teams from Japan has increased considerably with J-Loc, APR, HubAuto Racing and Saitama Toyopet Green Brave all bringing impressive GT3 machines such as the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Lamborghini Huracan and Ferrari 488. J-Loc and APR will be entering full Pro line-ups, with South African Adrian Zaugg joining the J-Loc squad for the event.

Don’t miss the Malaysian teams such as Nexus Infinity with Adrian Henry D’Silva and Dominic Ang, Ayelzo Ecotint Racing with Zen Low, GDL Racing with Melvin Moh and Viper Niza Racing with Dominic Khoo, driving cars like the Ferrari 458 GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3R.

Catch this weekend’s MOTUL Sepang 12 Hours with your friends and family at Sepang International Circuit. Free practice takes place on Thursday and Friday, with the qualifying session also taking place on Friday. The Official Flag-Off is on Saturday, 12.00pm. Fans can catch all the action for free from the Main Grandstand.
