Toyota Corolla to be powered by BMW engines

I bet you did not know this, BMW has been supplying its turbodiesel 1.6- and 2.0-liter engines to Toyota Motor Europe since 2014. The Toyota Verso MPV and the Toyota Avensis sedan and wagon (both models not sold in ASEAN) were given BMW power with success and now it appears the popular Toyota Corolla is next to get a BMW engine. The identity of the engine and if it is diesel or petrol is yet to be determined.

Why ASEAN models don’t get this sort of BMW muscle treatment? Not implying that Toyota engines are no go, BMW engines for the likes of Camry would be nice
