The launch was officiated by Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, Chief Executive Officer of Proton in the presence of Dato’ Madani Sahari, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysia Automotive Institute, Mohd Khalid Yusof, Director of Transformation and Head of International Sales, Proton, Naim Abdul Rahman, MATRADE Advisor at The Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia and Yanuarto Widihandono, Secretary General of Indonesia Otomotif Institute.

Following the Iriz media preview and test drive last week in Sentul, Bogor, PEI is keen to officially introduce the latest compact hatchback in the City Car segment to consumers in Jakarta as well as in Makassar, Sulawesi.

Indonesia is the second country after Brunei to import the Iriz. Fun aside, this car packs a host of advanced safety features to complement Proton’s signature ride and handling. Two variants are made available to the Indonesian market, 1.3L MT Standard and 1.3L CVT Standard, priced at IDR175,250,000 and IDR185,283,000, respectively.

According to Dato’ Fuaad, Iriz is the only compact hatcback below IDR350 million to be equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC). It also has Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Hill Hold Assist (HSA) and Seat Belt Reminder, features usually found in higher-end premium cars.

In Indonesia, the Iriz is offered in Cotton White, Midnight Black, Sterling Silver, Atlantic Blue, Graphite Grey, Citrus Green and Fire Red.

“Indonesia is an important market for Proton. Not only have we maintained strong G2G relations being ASEAN founding members, but we also share many similarities in terms of people, language, culture as well as the weather. It’s almost an extension of each other,” Dato’ Fuaad added.

“PEI is supported by a total of 25 sales and after sales outlets in Indonesia. Customers will be able to get up close and personal with the Iriz in all our sales outlets from 20 February. In terms of after sales services, we have 24 service outlets in strategic locations across Java, Kalimantan, Sumatera and Sulawesi, with 8 of them centred around Jabodetabek region. All the maintenance need will be provided by these service centres,” Fuaad continued.

Since its debut, the Iriz has received many awards and accolades from the automotive industry in Malaysia including a 5-star rating from the ASEAN NCAP.
