Porsche 718 Cayman Now in Malaysia – Priced from RM530k

To commemorate the opening of Porsche Centre Penang, SDAP also unveiled the highly anticipated all-new 718 Cayman, which visually resembles the 718 Boxster that was launched last year, save for the fixed roof and tailgate.

Appearance aside, the two cars also share the same drivetrains. The entry-level 718 Cayman gets 300 hp and 380 Nm from a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, while the 718 Cayman S packs 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque courtesy of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder mill with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG).

Equipped with the 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and the optional Sport Chrono package, the 718 Cayman goes from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 275 km/h while the 718 Cayman S reaches the same speed in 4.2 seconds and goes all the way to 285 km/h.

The 718 Cayman can be had with a host of optional goodies, including the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a ten-millimetre lower ride height. Extended optional assistance systems include Adaptive Cruise Control with a coasting function as well as lane change assist.

Inside, the sports car features a newly designed instrument panel and the new sports steering wheel derived from the 918 Spyder. The cluster of three round instruments, with the rev counter positioned in the centre and flanked by a 4.6-inch colour screen, is retained.

The latest generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a 7-inch multi-touchscreen is now included as standard, offering a variety of options for individualisation, including optional Connect, Navigation, and Connect Plus modules. The latter comprises a smartphone storage compartment for wireless connection of the smartphone to the car’s exterior antenna, an iPod-capable USB port on the centre console, and Apple CarPlay including voice control.

Retail base price for the new 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S starts from RM530,000 and RM700,000 respectively. Price stated include all applicable duties, except registration fee, road tax and insurance. Like all Porsche cars sold by SDAP, the 718 Cayman comes with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package which includes complimentary service, parts and labour.
