Successful weekend for Lamborghini: victory in USA and new leadership in European Blancpain GT

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 is continuing to score international successes in the most prestigious GT championships, thus confirming the maturity and the reliability of the product.

Some of the latest good news has come from North America and Europe, with excellent results achieved by Lamborghini customer teams in the two most hard-fought GT championships in the world: the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Blancpain GT Series.

In North America, the first seasonal win of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 was achieved at the VIRginia International Raceway, which also hosted the fourth round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America one make series last weekend. The absolute domain of the car #16 of Change Racing started during free practice, with the fastest lap time set in both sessions, and then continued in qualifying with the pole position in GTD class.

During the race, the duo formed by Jeroen Mul and Corey Lewis, both GT3 Junior Drivers of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, always maintained the lead of the race and after 92 laps and 2.40 hours, the Huracán GT3 won ahead of the Audi R8 LMS and BMW M6 GT3.

Successful results were obtained also in Europe, at the Hungaroring that hosted the eighth round of the Blancpain GT Series, with two races valid for the Sprint Cup.

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 of Grasser Racing Team scored two important podiums over the weekend: a solid second place in Saturday’s Qualifying Race and a third place in the Main Race on Sunday.

These results allowed the Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory Drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart to take over the lead of the championship, while Grasser Racing Team is still leading the team ranking ahead of Mercedes-AMG and Bentley with only two rounds to go before the end of the season.

The upcoming Blancpain GT Series events are scheduled at the Nürburgring on September 15-17 (Sprint Cup) and in Barcelona on September 30-October 1 with the Endurance Cup.
