The Audi R8 LMS Cup announces new weekend date for season finale
The sixth season of the Audi R8 LMS Cup will now culminate on the weekend of October 7 and 8 at the same location as originally planned, the Zhejiang International Circuit. The new date separates the Cup’s final two rounds from the finales of both the Blancpain GT Series Asia and the China GT Championship, giving the Audi customer teams and drivers contesting multiple series the best chance of success in each championship.
“The number of Audi customer entries in competitions all around Asia has grown quickly and we are determined to support these entries in the best possible way. The new date of the Audi R8 LMS Cup season finale allows our customers to fully focus on success in the Cup, as well as in China GT and in Blancpain GT Series Asia”, said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.
The Audi R8 LMS Cup will race alongside the TRC International, TCR Asia and TCR China Series in Zhejiang, in which a number of Audi RS 3 LMS entries will be competing. With both the Audi R8 LMS GT3 and the Audi RS 3 LMS on track during the weekend, the full Audi Sport customer racing portfolio of machinery will be showcased.
Before heading to the season finale, the penultimate race weekend of the 2017 Audi R8 LMS Cup takes place at the Shanghai Audi International Circuit on September 9 and 10.
