TRATON GROUP Is The New Name For VOLKSWAGEN TRUCK & BUS
The VW Group renames the Truck Division Volkswagen Truck & Bus. The brands Scania, MAN, Caminhões e Ônibus (Brazil) and the mobility brand RIO will now be grouped under the NEW name ‘Traton Group’. The brand association should become more independent from the parent company.
Divisional director Andreas Renschler had already had his department converted from a limited liability company into an AG. The IPO is expected for some time. It could be ready in the first quarter of 2019. The name Traton Group will come into force in the third quarter of 2018. Volkswagen describes the conversion as a “milestone on the way to capital market capability”.
The new name is an artificial word composed of several terms. The syllable “Tra” comes from the words tradition and transport, “ton” refers to tonnage and online. All brands are to be retained in the Traton Group.
