2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 Launched in Malaysia – RM23,071

The Art of Speed 2018 show at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) saw the launch of the new Kawasaki Ninja 250, which comes with refreshed styling and an all-new engine that offers a balance of performance and controllability.

For 2018, the design of the Ninja 250 is inspired by the omnipotent Ninja H2 and this is most evident in the chin-spoiler below the front cowl as well as in the tail cowl.

It also has slim LED headlamps, each featuring low and high beams, as well as an LED position lamp. The cockpit has the same instrument cluster as the Ninja 650 with an analogue tachometer flanked by warning lamps on one side and a gear position indicator and multi-function LCD screen on the other.

The all-new 249 cc parallel-twin engine churns out 39 PS at 12,500 rpm and 23.5 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm, making it slightly more powerful over the previous model. The engine also gets a new Assist & Slipper clutch that offers 20% lighter lever pull and a new radiator fan cover.

As for the chassis, the quarter-litre bike features a trellis frame that is matched with a more rigid 41-mm telescopic front fork and a rear swingarm. The latter is affixed to the rear of the engine making it lighter and more stable by eliminating the need for heavy frame cross-members.

Braking power is provided by a 310-mm floating front disc and a 220-mm rear disc, both mated with a dual-piston caliper.

The new Ninja 250 is available in two colour schemes, namely Passion Red/Metallic Flat Spark Black and Pearl Solar Yellow/Pearl Storm Grey/Ebony. Priced at RM23,071, the model will be at Kawasaki dealerships in mid-August this year.
