Ferrari Shows the F8 Tributo Ahead of Geneva Debut

Please welcome the Ferrari F8 Tributo – the official replacement to the 488 GTB. It brings the same proven formula (mid-rear V8 with 2 seats) but pushes performance up a notch. Yes, the engine here is so powerful, it’s actually a record setter for Ferrari – this is the most powerful V8 they’ve ever built for a non-special series car.

Performance

This 3902cc turbocharged V8 puts out an amazing 720 hp, 50 more than the 488 GTB ire replaces. The 185hp/litre rating is thanks in no small part to Ferrari’s use of turbochargers. On top of being more powerful, the Ferrari F8 Tributo is also lighter (40kg less vs the 488 GTB) and 10% more aerodynamically efficient. Ferrari have given it their latest version of Side Slip Angle Control (v6.1) for the absolute cutting edge in performance-enhancing software.

According to Ferrari’s official statement, the engine’s power delivery has absolutely no turbo lag, whatsoever. Their new Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE+) can now be activated in RACE mode to make high-end performance available to the masses. Additionally, they’ve fitted a smaller steering wheel for better tactility and agility.

Just like its predecessor, the Ferrari F8 Tributo’s aero was derived from the track and is optimised for engine heat management. This is done by changing the angle of the front radiators and placing dynamic engine air intakes on either side of the spoiler.

Design

The Ferrari Styling Centre was responsible for the F8 Tributo’s looks. The S-Duct, which first appeared on the 488 Pista has been redesigned for the F8 to give 15% more downforce. Slimmer horizontal LED headlights are present and allow better flow of air to the brakes.

They’ve included a Lexan rear screen to showcase the engine in the Ferrari tradition. There are functional louvres, a wrap-around spoiler and twin light clusters.

Inside, the F8 Tributo has a driver-oriented cabin with Ferrari’s latest Human Machine Interface. Round air cond vents, a new steering wheel and controls as well a 7″ screen are present here.
