Lexus RX Updated: One Engine option, 3 Variants

The Lexus RX has received some extensive updates, bringing the luxury SUV into greater relevance to our market. Let’s take a look at some of the changes that Lexus Malaysia have made to their successful RX.

One Engine Choice

The RX 350 and RX 450h variants from before are no longer available. Now, Malaysian customers will only have access to the RX 300.

The RX 300 comes with a 2.0L Inline 4 turbocharged petrol engine (8AR-FTS). This engine produces a respectable 235hp and 350Nm of torque. Engine technologies such as ESTEC and D-4ST are featured here. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Super ECT with AI Shift.

Enhancements all-around

The new RX 300 receives several changes designed to improveBhp driving dynamics and expanding driving pleasure. Visual changes to the bumpers and headlights are present, but not quite as huge as these enhancements:

  • Retuned shock absorbers
  • New Friction Control Damper device
  • Increased body rigidity
  • Lexus Safety System + (Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Tracing Assist, Adaptive Highbeam System
  • Active Cornering Assist
  • 10 SRS Airbags
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • LED Cornering Lamps
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors

3 Trim Levels

The Lexus RX 300 is available in Premium, Luxury and F Sport. Here’s what each variant brings to the table, with Premium as the base model.

Premium (RM399,888)

  • Hyper Chrome Metallic design 20-inch alloy wheels
  • 235/55R20 Tyres
  • Adaptive Highbeam System (AHS) with BladeScan
  • Semi-aniline leather upholstery
  • 10-way adjustable front seats
  • Ventilated front seats
  • 3-spoke leather-on-wood steering wheel
  • Pioneer 12-speaker system
  • 8″ touchscreen with Remote Touch Interface
  • Android Auto, Apple Carplay
  • Paddle shifters
  • Interior options: Ocher with Shimamoku Wood Trim, Black with Shimamoku Wood Trim and Noble Brown with Shimamoku Wood Trim
  • Exterior Colours:
    New: Terrane Khaki Mica Metallic (6X4), Ice Ecru Mica Metallic (4X8)

    Old: Sonic Quartz (085), Amber Crystal Shine (4X2), Sonic Titanium (1J7), Red Mica Crystal Shine (3R1), Graphite Black Glass Flake (223) and Deep Blue Mica (8X5)

Luxury (RM424,888)

  • Same Base equipment and options as Premium
  • Powered tailgate with handsfree opening
  • Wireless Qi Charger
  • Manual rear side window shades
  • 12.3″ touchscreen with Remote Touch Interface
  • Navigation
  • 360-degree panoramic view monitor

F Sport (RM439,888)

  • Adds most of the features found on the Luxury trim level
  • Adaptive Variable Suspension
  • 8-way adjustable front seats
  • F-Sport Exclusive 20″ Alloy rim design
  • Interior Options: Flare Red with Aluminium Trim and Black with Aluminium Trim. The seats are covered with F SPORT leather.
  • Exclusive colours: White Nova Glass Flake (083) and Heat Blue Contrast Layering (8X1)
    Also available in: Sonic Titanium (1J7), Red Mica Crystal Shine (3R1), Graphite Black Glass Flake (223) and Deep Blue Mica (8X5)
