Lynk & Co 06 Shown, Proton X50’s High-Class Cousin

Malaysians have been waiting months for an even more affordable compact crossover from Proton that’s based on the Geely Binyue. While that is taking some time to come to fruition, another arm of Geely Auto, Lynk & Co, has already sprung into action with the 06 model according to Gasgoo, a Chinese auto news site.

They just showed the first images and details around their variation of the Geely Binyue crossover. Just like the version that’s set for the Philippines (where it’s called the Geely Coolray), the Lynk & Co 06 will be available as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). This PHEV setup consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, a battery pack and an electric motor. That engine is uptuned for at least 174hp and 265Nm of torque. The electric motor should supplement another 80hp and 160Nm of torque, but the combined system output remains elusive. A 7-speed DCT sends power to the driven wheels. Other, non-electrified powertrains will be added to the mix later on.

The 06’s measurements are as follows:

  • Length: 4340mm
  • Width: 1820mm
  • Height: 1625mm

This makes it the smallest vehicle that Lynk & Co offers. It is thus positioned below the 01 & 02, which are both SUV models. Still, you can expect a range of premium options to be available. These include different rim options, fog lamps, parking sensors and cameras, adaptive cruise control and a panoramic sunroof.

Signature Lynk & Co design elements such as split headlights with high-mounted daytime running lights, two-tone bodywork, a floating roof, a Y-shaped taillight cluster and the the brand’s lettering spread across the rear of the vehicle is all present on the 06 model.

Our first hub will open its doors in Amsterdam in the autumn of 2020. If you’re not in Amsterdam, don’t worry. We’ve got plans for more locations, so stay tuned!
