At last years (2019) Singapore Motor Show, we saw it for the first time in person and was impressed with its lines and sheer attractiveness. At the show, VW Singapore team informed us of its popularity in Singapore which has the highest car prices in the world.

In May 2019 there were strong rumors circulating that the VW Arteon will be launched in Malaysia and there was a possibility of local assembly to get the selling price attractive enough to ‘pull’ buyers away from the established premium brands. The ‘whispered’ price was RM220,000 to RM240,000 which makes it rather attractive to many Malaysians.

In mid-July 2019, Volkswagen in Malaysia announced that bookings of the VW Arteon will start and the model that was to be launched would be the high specifications R-Line with all the needed specification to challenge Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW and also Volvo.

From July 24th 2019 to October 27th 2019, the Volkswagen Arteon went on a showroom to showroom roadshow around Malaysia, starting in Juru Penang and ending in Volkswagen Puchong.

This VW Arteon 2.0 TSI 4motion R-Line comes with a 2-litre TSI engine, a 7-speed wet clutch DSG, and an all-wheel drive system. The engine is tuned to produced 280PS and 350Nm of torque which is the highest output of any petrol-powered Arteon.

This VW Arteon sits above the Passat saloon in the current Volkswagen passenger cars line-up.

With a length of 4,862 mm, width of 1,871 mm and a height of 1,450 mm the Volkswagen Arteon is proportioned to carry five people in considerable comfort, while the generous wheelbase of 2,837 mm allows best-in-class legroom of 1,016 mm.

Luggage space is 563 litres with the rear seats in place, rising to a cavernous 1,557 litres of available carrying capacity when the rear seats are folded.

The Arteon also won the “2017 Golden Steering Wheel”, one of the most renowned automotive awards in Europe. Built for speed, the Arteon is powered by a 2.0L TSI turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet clutch direct shift gearbox (DSG). Its impressive output of 280PS and torque of 350Nm between 5,100 to 6,500rpm is transferred via 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.

Equipped with the new Active Info Display with high-resolution display colour thin-film transistor (TFT), the new setting allows for customization and full map view. The new Discover Pro infotainment system runs through a 9.2-inch screen fitted with gesture control and Wireless App-Connect (CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink).

For added convenience, a new 360-degree area view camera enables drivers to see the surroundings of the car through four discreetly integrated cameras. The Arteon comes fitted with both interior and exterior R-Line styling package.
