Hyundai Kona Launched in Malaysia: CBU for RM124K to RM152K

At a virtual launch event on the company’s Facebook page today, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motor launched the new Kona along with the new Sonata. They also unveiled a new tagline for the brand – ‘Geared for Distinction’. For our drive impressions of the new Kona, check out this article from earlier this month.

The Hyundai Kona is fully imported from South Korea in 3 specifications:

  • Kona 2.0L – RM123,888 (RM115,888 with SST discount)
  • Kona 2.0L Active – RM138,888 (RM130,888 with SST discount)
  • Kona 1.6L Turbo – RM151,888 (RM143,888 with SST discount)

Both 2.0L models are powered by a naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 6-speed conventional automatic. The 2-litre motor produces 149 horsepower and 179Nm of torque. It’s an Atkinson cycle engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) technology. 

The 1.6L Turbo features direct injection with a single turbo, twin blade design. It produces 177 horsepower and 265Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

Standard on all models of the Kona are:

The 2.0L base model comes with:

BHP diesel

Unique to the 2.0L Active model is:

  • Leather & Cloth combination seats (except Black interior, which is full leather)
