Jaguar F-PACE SVR Improved With Facelift

Back in 2018, Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations Division created the ultimate performance variant of the F-Pace. It was called the F-Pace SVR and it packed a supercharged 5-litre V8. Now that vehicle has received a facelift at least in the US market.

The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace SVR has been improved in a number of ways. First of all, it now sits on the Electronic Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0), which debuted with the new Defender.

The 5-litre V8 now produces an additional 19Nm of torque bringing the final figure to 550PS and 700Nm of torque. On top of that, they’ve also fitted the F-PACE SVR with the same torque converter found on the record-breaking XE SV Project 8.

BHP diesel

All this adds to just an improvement in acceleration time (0.3 seconds faster to 60 mph) and top speed (2mph higher). What’s really much different is the inclusion of Dynamic Launch, which uses driveline inertia to maintain power to the wheels during gear changes, contributing to sharper acceleration from a standstill.

There’s also a new electronic power-assistance system for more direct steering, retuned adaptive dampers, revised chassis bushings, a new Integrated Power Booster for the brakes as well as better brake performance overall due to better aero and cooling.

The exterior AND interior has been updated to reflect the modern aesthetic of the facelifted F-PACE. This interior now sports a 12.3” digital driver display. Specially for the F-PACE SVR facelift: Alcantara wraps the dashboard and there’s ebony stitching along with aluminium trim as standard with open pore carbon fibre as an option. There’s also new gear selector and rotary drive mode selector.

Overall, these are all great, if minor, changes to an already pretty cool performance SUV. Here are some of the changes in point form.

PRESS RELEASE

The new Jaguar F-PACE SVR is now faster, more dynamic and more refined than ever. Thanks to the latest enhancements by the Jaguar SV team, the pinnacle of the F-PACE SUV range is elevated to another level. Motorsport-inspired design details, a luxurious and performance-focused interior and the latest connected convenience technologies are among the updates delivered by a combination of new hardware and the move to advanced Electronic Vehicle Architecture (EVA 2.0).

A powerful enhancement

For 2021, the F-PACE SVR is available exclusively with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, which produces 550 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque – an increase of 14 lb-ft. This uplift in torque delivers enhanced performance, allowing F-PACE SVR to accelerate to 60mph in 3.8 seconds, or 0.3 second faster than the outgoing model. Top speed increases by 2 mph to 178 mph.4 The powertrain now features the same torque converter used in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan, to withstand the higher loads produced.

The transmission and dynamics systems have also benefitted from incremental tweaks. Dynamic mode now features unique tuning, delivering a focused and honed driving experience. Dynamic Launch, new for 2021, uses driveline inertia to maintain power to the wheels during gear changes, contributing to sharper acceleration from a standstill. At the same time, F-PACE SVR is now more comfortable and enjoyable to drive, without compromising its high-speed dynamics, further underlining its duality of purpose.

The steering system is enhanced with a new electronic power-assistance system delivering greater immediacy, providing a heightened connection between the vehicle and driver. Modified tuning of the adaptive damping provides a more refined ride at low speeds, which is further improved by revised chassis bushings. The 395mm (front) and 396mm (rear) two-piece disc brakes are now supported by a new Integrated Power Booster which, along with a recalibration of the system, delivers a sportier and shorter brake pedal. This tuning is specific to F-PACE SVR, while the brake system uses a new electric booster system. The improved cooling and aerodynamics of the vehicle also improve the performance of the brakes.

The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is paired with an ultra-responsive 8-speed automatic transmission that delivers rapid gearshifts for effortless performance, while adapting the way power is delivered to suit the driving situations.

All-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics is fitted as standard. Adaptive Dynamics suspension technology ensures a precise, dynamic setup coupled with a supple ride, while Configurable Dynamics provides enhanced driver appeal by enabling the driver to set up the vehicle to suit their personal preferences. A stopwatch, G-Meter and pedal graph also help the driver to monitor performance in Dynamic mode.

Function inspires form

The design of the new F-PACE SVR is inspired by motorsport experience, with enhanced airflow and aerodynamic benefits delivered through new apertures and vents for improved powertrain and brake cooling. The changes deliver superior aerodynamic performance, including 35 percent reduction in aerodynamic lift and a reduction in drag  to 0.36 Cd. As well as the performance enhancements, these elements also provide a more purposeful aesthetic.

The interior of the new F-PACE SVR is comprehensively redesigned, with materials enhanced to heighten the dynamic character of the revised cabin and its controls. Seat and door inserts are finished in Alcantara, with elements such as the central cubby and leather midroll are wrapped in luxurious Windsor leather. The 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display is wrapped in Alcantara with ebony stitching, while aluminum patterned finishers feature as standard with open-pore carbon fiber available as an option.

Optional slimline, semi-aniline leather sports seats with heritage logo-inspired diamond embroidery across the front shoulder section, feature a unique perforation across the backrest, while the same pattern is used on the leather on the seatbacks. An embossed SVR logo on the headrests adds a flourish.

The Drive Selector has a more performance-focused feel, finished in dimpled leather with heritage logo-inspired detailing and debossed SVR logo. The new SVR split-rim steering wheel is finished with tactile zinc-alloy shift paddles, providing heightened driver engagement when making manual gear changes.

Stylish and up-to-date

As the flagship of the F-PACE range, F-PACE SVR features all of the advanced technologies found in the latest F-PACE, ensuring it is connected and up-to-date for enhanced driver convenience: These include intuitive Pivi Pro infotainment, Software-Over-Air capability, Active Road Noise Cancellation, wireless device charging, the latest advanced driver assistance systems, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

Pricing for F-PACE SVR is subject to future announcement. Every new Jaguar vehicle, including F-PACE, comes with Jaguar EliteCare, a best-in-class ownership package. Jaguar EliteCare coverage offers:
