Hyundai Elantra Gets An Executive Variant – RM139,888

Now that the price is more accessible, would you consider getting one?

When the seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra was launched in Malaysia back in December 2020, it was offered in a sole Premium variant. Now, the model lineup has been expanded to include a new Executive variant.

Priced at RM139,888, which is RM19,000 lower than the Premium variant, the Elantra Executive makes do with black fabric upholstery, manual seat adjustment and an analogue meter cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT LCD.

The heating and ventilation functions on the front seats have been omitted, so have the steering wheel heating function, electrochromic rear view mirror, wireless smartphone charger and the fully-digital 10.25-inch Supervision TFT instrument cluster. On the bright side, at least the floating-type 8-inch display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto has been retained.

The Hyundai SmartSense suite of safety and driver assistance systems are still included but the features have been reduced to include only the Blind Spot-Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, Safe Exit Warning and Rear Occupant Alert.

Like the Premium, the Elantra Executive is powered by the 1.6-litre Smartstream engine that makes 123 PS and 154 Nm, with the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) driving the front wheels.

PRESS RELEASE

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has introduced a new Executive variant for its seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra, which is offered at the more accessible price of RM139,888 (Peninsula Malaysia, excluding insurance). With two variants now available, i.e the Executive and Premium, HSDM is confident of capturing a bigger market share of the C-segment passenger car market.

The Executive variant, which is priced RM19,000 lower than the Premium variant, enjoys most of the features of the Premium variant, which also include the following SmartSense features:

  • Blind Spot-Collision Warning
  • Rear Cross Traffic – Collision Warning
  • Safe Exit Warning
  • Rear Occupant Alert

Apart from that, this new entry level variant comes with Black Fabric Seat, Manual Seat Adjustment, 4.2-inch TFT LCD Cluster, and a Day & Night Rear View Mirror.

“We have received a significant number of interest from customers on the new Elantra and also a preference for lower pricing. As with all fully imported cars, the exchange rate is one of the determining factor for the price of the car. The Elantra is a complete built-up unit that is fully-imported from Korea, therefore the exchange rate does affect how we price the car. Having said that, we would still like to make the Elantra accessible to all our customers with the introduction of this new variant,” said Mr Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of HSDM.

The Elantra is built on a new vehicle platform as well as an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) that is mated with aSmartstreamG1.6 petrol engine. It is capable of producing 123PS at 6,300rpm and a peak torque of 154Nm at 4,500rpm. With four drive modes to choose from,i.e Smart, Comfort, Eco and Sport, the Elantra offers an exhilarating drive.

Designed based on Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design concept, it carries an intricate design of geometric crystals cut and divided body surfaces which, coupled with the clever usage of lined patterns, resulting in colourful ‘Parametric Dynamics’.

Though the car now has a sleeker roofline compared to its predecessor, its headroom is not compromised. The Elantra boasts 1030mm of front headroom and 947mm of rear headroom. The longer wheelbase also provides a best-in-class 964mm of rear legroom while the wider track width means improved shoulder room in the front and rear. With over 474 litres of boot space and 60/40 split folding rear seats, this also makes it convenient to transport big bulky items.

The Elantra also delivers outstanding comfort, functionality and practicality. The “immersive cocoon” interior envelops the driver in a technologically-advanced and sophisticated cabin that is akin to entering an airplane cockpit.

Apart from being equipped with 6 airbags, the Elantra has a host of other standard safety features as well, such as the Electronic Stability Control, Antilock Braking System, Downhill Brake Control, Hill-start Assist Control, Brake Assist System, Traction Control System, Vehicle Stability Management and Immobiliser.

The Elantra comes with a five-year or 300,000km (whichever comes first) warranty. It is available for viewing at all Hyundai showrooms nationwide. For more information, reach out to Hyundai’s Customer Careline at 1-300-13-2000 or log on to www.hyundai.com.my.
