Porsche 911 GT3 Now In Malaysia From RM1.77 Million

The ultimate motorsport-derived road car, the latest Porsche 911 GT3, is now in Malaysia.

Sime Darby Auto Performance today launched the 7th generation Porsche 911 GT3 at the Sepang International Circuit with prices starting at RM1,766,244 with a 50% SST discount. The all-new Porsche 911 GT3 comes with a naturally-aspirated 4.0L flat six with 510PS and 470Nm of torque and a 7-speed PDK as standard. This allows it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds and gives it a top speed of 320km/h.

Optionally, enthusiasts in Malaysia can configure the 911 GT3 with a 6-speed manual GT Sports transmission (which cuts another 17kg from the car’s weight) or opt for the GT3 Touring Package at no additional cost. Compared to the last 911 GT3 model, this one is 17 seconds faster around the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Lightweight Nature

In order to maximise available power and keep the 911 GT3 as nimble as possible on its feet, weight has been kept at just 1435kg. This was done by extensive use of lightweight materials. The front bonnet and rear ring, for instance, as made of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP), while the windows are made of a lightweight glass and the starter battery is a more energy dense, but lighter LiFePO4 unit. Forged lightweight wheels and a sports exhaust system also cut down an additional 10kg.

True Road-Legal GT Race Car

The all-new Porsche 911 GT3 takes engineering elements right out of the race track. For the first time ever, the GT3 model uses a double-wishbone front suspension taken from the Le Mans-winning 911 RSR. Another first is the swan-neck rear wing mounting.

This, along with the diffuser are also inspired by the 911 RSR and allow for about 50% more downforce than before without messing with the drag coefficient. The manually-adjustable rear wing and diffuser can be set up to increase aerodynamic downforce by up to 150%.

Heart of the 911 GT3

The most important element of the Porsche 911 GT3 is that 4.0L flat six. It revs all the way up to 9,000rpm, has individual throttle bodies and is based on the endurance-bred 911 GT3 R’s motor.

Racetrack Tools Inside

Inside the 911 GT3, you find the same luxurious cockpit of the 992 generation, but with more motorsport-inspired elements. This includes a GT3-specific instrument cluster with a central rev counter and a new track screen for the high-resolution 7″ displays.

The track screen simplifies the digital displays to prioritise vital track info such as tyre pressure, oil pressure, oil temperature and fuel tank level. It also features virtual shift assistance for optimum gear changes. The central 10.9″ touchscreen display features the latest Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system with online navigation and Porsche Connect Plus and support for the Porsche Track Precision App.

Touring Package & Customisations

For those who appreciate subtlety, the Porsche GT3 can be optioned with a a Touring Package. This features a 6-speed manual GT sports gearbox as standard. The biggest difference is the removal of the fixed rear wing. In its place is an automatically extending rear spoiler. Silver coloured trim strips made out of high-gloss anodised aluminium on the side windows is the second big change. The third change is that the front end is painted completely in the body colour. Finally, there’s a unique “GT3 Touring” logo which sits on the lid grille above the Porsche lettering, which is finished in silver.
