All-New Peugeot 2008 Launched In Malaysia For RM127K

The all-new Peugeot 2008 gets introduced to Malaysia by new brand guardians Bermaz Auto Alliance.

The all-new Peugeot 2008 has been launched in Malaysia today by new brand steward Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd. The B-segment crossover is available at all Peugeot showrooms nationwide and was premiered at the renewed Peugeot Glenmarier 3S Flagship centre today.

The 2nd generation Peugeot 2008 is locally assembled at the Stellantis plant in Gurun, Kedah and is built on a new EMP1 platform. The new 2008 brings Peugeot’s refreshed design language, which is more sculptural and stylish than ever before with a more recessed windshield and a stronger brand identity, including the refreshed Peugeot badge and the iconic three-claw signature LED daytime running light graphic.

The only powertrain option for Malaysia is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged PureTech petrol engine which outputs 130 horsepower and 230Nm of torque. The engine sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed conventional automatic transmission. Legendary Peugeot handling is present here and the company claims “top-of-the-range” driving comfort. This locally-assembled model has been through 200,000 kilometres of testing WITHIN Malaysia to ensure it can take the country’s climate and traffic conditions.

Bermaz Auto Alliance has specified the car well with full-LED lighting technology back to front, 17″ Black Onyx and Diamond Cut alloy rims, roof rails, electrically foldable wing mirrors and more. The Peugeot 2008 also comes with Advanced Keyless Entry, enabling features like Auto-Unlock and Walk Away Lock, Front & Rear Parking Sensors and a reverse camera.

The Peugeot i-Cockpit is featured on this new 2008, introducing a compact steering wheel, a large HD touch screen and a new 3D heads up instrument cluster. The interior also features Auto Climate Control, Leather Seats, an Electric Parking Brake, a Drive Mode Selector, Mood Lighting, and a 7″ infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

In Malaysia, the Peugeot 2008’s safety suite includes an ultrawide rearview camera (180-degree field of view), Active Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Active Safety Brake. Besides that, you also get 6 SRS Airbags, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Program, Anti-lock Brakes, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist.

The Peugeot 2008 is available in 4 exterior colours:

  • Amazonite Grey
  • Pearl White
  • Nera Black
  • Orange Fusion

With the ongoing sales tax exemption, the car is priced at RM126,753. This puts it up against segment rivals like the Subaru XV, Honda HR-V and Proton X50.

The Bermaz Auto Alliance is offering the Peugeot 2008 with a 5-year manufacturer warranty or 100,000km, whichever comes first. Owners will also be treated to 3 years or 60,000km of free service maintenance.
