Chery Group Posts Best-Ever January Sales Performance

The Chinese automaker seems to be doing quite well in markets outside its home country

Chery Group has delivered its best-ever January performance with a total sales of 107,710 units last month, an increase of 20% when compared to the same month last year. Its export market contributed 26,900 units of that figure, which represented a tremendous growth of 60.9% year-on-year.

Diving deeper into Chery’s overseas performance for the month of January 2022, the automaker said its sales volumes and market shares continue to climb in four of its key markets, namely Russia, Chile, Brazil and Egypt.

Thanks to the popularity of the Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery managed to increase its sales in Russia by 47% over the same month last year. Meanwhile, the Tiggo 2 emerged as the company’s biggest contributor in Chile, where its sales jumped 188% to 2,969 units.

In Brazil, Chery positioned itself in the top 10 passenger vehicle brands with 3,131 units sold, while in Egypt, where the automaker was ranked third in total automobile sales in December 2021, a total of 1,658 Chery vehicles were delivered.

As for Malaysia, the brand is set to make a return sometime this year with the Omoda 5 compact crossover.
