Lamborghini Urus Performante Makes South East Asian Debut In Malaysia

Last week, the new Lamborghini Urus Performante found its way into our corner of the world.

When it comes to super SUVs, few can match the outright performance of the Lamborghini Urus. However, the Urus was launched quite some time ago and today its rivals, like the Aston Martin DBX 707, have matched or exceeded certain aspects of the Urus. That’s why it was important for the company to come back swinging with a new Urus Performante, which raises the bar in terms of sportiness. This new super SUV was debuted in Malaysia last week just a month after its global reveal. At the premiere, 150 customers and guests got up close and personal with the new Urus Performante. They also got to explore the range of customisation options available through the Ad Personam program.

This new Urus Performante set a new record on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Road before its official launch.

Aesthetics of the Urus Performante

The design has been made to look more dynamic from all angles. A new bi-colour livery scheme has been implemented to accentuate the dynamism of the vehicle. It contrasts against the Performante’s body colour and black painted exterior parts.

The bonnet is more prominent and features deep cuts, an air outlet and is made completely out of carbon fibre. In fact, the Urus Performante is being touted as the car with the highest number of carbon fibre parts in its class. By default, the hood is finished in body colour. Optionally it can be finished in partially visible carbon fibre. An optional carbon fibre roof is available too.

The front bumper and splitter in carbon fibre have been redesigned and now feature increase engine cooling. There’s a new air curtain that draws airflow over the front wheels. Around back, the new spoiler features carbon fibre fins and increases downforce on the Urus Performante by 38%. The rear spoiler and prominent front wing increase the Urus Performante’s overall length by 25mm. The lower rear bumper and diffuser are made of carbon fibre.

The Urus Performante also features new steel springs that lower the overall vehicle by 20mm. The wheel track has also been broadened by 16mm. New optional 23″ or forged 22″ lightweight wheels with titanium bolts wrapped in specially-developed Pirelli tyres.

Inside, Alcantara in Neo Cosmus black is featured as standard. The seats feature new hexagonal stitching. Leather is available optionally. Performante trim is featured on the doors, roof liner, seat backrest, rear wall and more. Optional customisations are available through the Ad Personam program. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and leather in matt black. Black-finished aluminium interior trim is heavily featured. An optional “Dark Package” expands the amount of black trim parts used in the cabin.

Performance Changes

The 4.0L twin turbo V8 has been tuned for an additional 16PS, bringing it to 666PS. Torque remains at 850Nm. This small pump in power is complemented by a 47kg weight reduction for a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 3.2kg per PS. Aerodynamic efficiency is also up, as is overall downforce.

Torque distribution has also been improved thanks to a new differential. 0-100km/h is dispatched in just 3.3 seconds while braking from 100km/h to 0km/h is done in just 32.9m. The Lamborghini Urus Performante has a top speed of 306km/h. A lightweight titanium Akrapovic sports exhaust is standard.

A new semi-slick Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyre has been developed for the SUV. Front wheel steering has been recalibrated while the rear wheel steering now features faster intervention. Drive modes have been re-engineered. There’s a new RALLY mode for dirt tracks which amplifies oversteer character.
