The First Kia EV6 Owner Finally Drives His Car Home

After a long wait, the Kia EV6 lands in Malaysia and is collected by it’s first owner

The Kia EV6 made it’s global debut on 30 March 2021 and showed the world a new, stylish concept for electric mobility and on 24 June 2022, Dinamikjaya Motors sdn bhd, the sole distributor for Kia in Malaysia announced that the car would be open for bookings in the country starting from RM300,688.

However, due to high global demand and recent supply shortages that most companies, including Kia, are slowly bouncing back from, the many Malaysians who wanted to help the push for electric mobility ended up having to endure a long wait time.

Thankfully for some of them, that wait has come to an end as the first batch of 5 of these cars have arrived in Malaysia and the first official owner of the first Kia EV6 in the country, Mr. Tan has collected the keys to his car.

Aside from also directly influencing the future of electric mobility, the Kia EV6 is also a very important model for Kia as it serves as the embodiment of the new Kia brand and is the first Kia vehicle developed under their new design philosophy that represents the brand’s shift to electrification.

Equipped with a dual motor setup making the Kia EV6 all wheel drive, the 77.4kWh battery in the car is said to be able to deliver an estimated driving range of up to 506km on a full charge and produces 605Nm maximum torque which gives the car a century sprint time of 5.2 seconds on to a top speed of 185km/h.

Moreover, the ‘Digital Tiger Face’ LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on to of the E-GMP platform the car is built on are a bold design and make the car look very desirable and still manages to use it’s proportions well as interior space is not compromised and is roomy despite the compact 2,900mm wheelbase.

On top of that, the interior is equally as beautiful with a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, a 12.3 inch infotainment screen connected to the digital driver display, a clean and minimalistic design and plenty of usable space on the centre console with a rotary knob as a shifter, the Kia EV6 is a looker inside and out.

So congratulations again to Mr. Tan and Kia would like to thank everyone who supports them and the buyers of the new Kia EV6 for their patronage and helping the brand push forward to the new era of electric mobility.
