The team will compete with the trusty Mitsubishi Triton

Mitsubishi Motors has announced that Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will be participating in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2022 which will be held from 21 November 2022 with three Mitsubishi Triton Rally cars (Group T1 prototype cross country vehicles).

The first day of the competition will see the Mitsubishi team drive on the special SS stage in Buriram, northeastern Thailand which will then be followed by a ceremonial start before the team enters the full-scale stage in Thailand from 22 November. The team will then head to Siem Reap, northwestern Cambodia on 26 November 2022.

Moreover, the Mitsubishi team rigorously tested all the Mitsubishi Triton rally cars that would be used in the competition on 9 November 2022 before the AXCR opening on the proving grounds of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand in Sri Racha, Chonburi in Thailand.

In previous years, the rally would be held in August during the rainy season this would lead to mud-clogged roads and river crossings making the road more challenging but this year the rally had to be pushed back due to the pandemic. This means the Mitsubishi team are expecting dry off-road trails and steep gradients.

On top of that, team Mitsubishi Ralliart endurance tested their Triton rally cars over a total of 1,900km to prepare for these challenges and after gruelling reliability and durability tests as well as making engine and chassis adjustments to deliver powerful performance and easy handling, the team confirms these cars are ready to rally.

Furthermore, Leg 0 of the AXCR will see a total of 56 vehicles running in an open SS in the city and these will consist of 21 vehicles in the motorcycle category, 2 vehicles in the sidecar category, 32 vehicles in the car category and 1 vehicle in the truck category. Teams will then participate in the ceremonial start held at the Chang Area.

Hiroshi Nagaoka, executive vice president of Mitsubishi Motors, stated, “The accomplished engineers of our development team, who had supported the team in winning numerous victories in the World Rally Championship and Dakar Rally, passed down the technology to our mid-career and younger generations and prepared the rally cars for the grueling AXCR.”

Hiroshi Masuoka, team director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, also said, “To lead the team to victory as team director, I have drawn on my rallying know-how and experience, built the team organization, and worked to hone our cars. The Triton rally cars have improved with every running, and they are now faster, stronger, and tougher.”
