2023 Honda Breeze Goes On Sale In China

The Honda Breeze is a CR-V with City taillights

Back in August, GAC-Honda showed the world a glimpse of the China-only (slightly different looking) twin sibling of the Honda CR-V which was called the Honda Breeze. Now this all-new crossover has finally launched and on the outside, it is basically a Honda CR-V with different headlights and Honda City taillights.

The all-new Honda Breeze is also offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater layouts just like how the current generation Honda CR-V is offered in a few other markets like the Philippines, for example. However the CR-V is strictly a 5-seater only SUV in Malaysia just like it always has been.

Moreover, the Honda Breeze is actually 22mm longer than the CR-V model it is based on as a result of its redesigned bumpers. Other differences between the two cars include the breeze having a smaller front grille, larger bumper intakes and a new set of LED headlights with a different look.

GAC-Honda also designed the Honda Breeze to look more premium than the CR-V which is why the black plastic cladding has also been painted in body colour as well. Over on the rear end, the Breeze differentiates itself from the CR-V with a completely redesigned tailgate and redesigned LED taillights that look similar to the Honda City.

The interior of the Honda Breeze is a completely different story though as it is very similar to the interior of the Honda CR-V with elements of the Honda Civic added with some minor changes to the upholstery and trim pieces. The audio system is a Bose 12-speaker system though, so it is clearly better than the CR-V in that regard.

Furthermore, while the CR-V in China is equipped with a 2.0 litre hybrid, the Honda Breeze features a 1.5 litre VTEC (VTEC fans in China rejoice) turbocharged engine making 190Ps of power and 243Nm of torque paired to a CVT transmission. The car will be offered in either a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive option.

Additionally, the Honda Breeze is well equipped in terms of safety as it comes with the latest Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as most Hondas do so customers can always drive while having peace of mind. Overall, the Breeze has a good overall package, if it nails the price, it could be the perfect car.
