Facelifted BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence Arrives In Malaysia

The BMW X7 facelift model arrives in Malaysia with its split headlights.

The BMW X7 was the company’s attempt at breaking into the 3-row, XXL SUV market. It was introduced in Malaysia, then locally-assembled and given a specification update. Today BMW Malaysia introduces the facelift to the market in xDrive40i Pure Excellence trim.

The new BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is priced from just RM654,800 – a big drop versus its previous price of RM708,800. The new X7 features enhanced digital capabilities and an updated design language with split headlights.

Another major change is the inclusion of a mild hybrid system to its 3.0L inline 6 turbocharge engine. This gives it a total output of 375hp and 540Nm of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.8 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the outgoing model. It’s also more fuel efficient as a result.

In terms of exterior design changes, the new BMW X7 comes with split twin LED headlights with daytime running lights and indicators on top and headlights at the bottom. The front apron and grille also have a new look to fit this fresh face with chrome highlights. Roof rails and other exterior trim elements are finished in satinised aluminium and sleek light alloy wheels.

Around back, the taillights feature redesigned internal graphics, a new position for the reversing lights and a 3D look. A glass-covered chrome strip connects the two taillights.

Inside, the BMW Curved Display is the highlight. This consists of a 12.3″ Information Display and a 14.9″ Control Display. The X7 comes with BMW Live Cockpit Plus, BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. A heads up-display is also featured here. The air vents have been significantly lowered and there’s Lindenwood Fineline wood trim.

Ambient lighting, M Headliner in alcantara and Crafter Clarity trim pieces are all standard in this interior for Malaysia. It’s worth noting that the X7 is configured as a six-seater, meaning the middle row consists of individual seats. Seats come wrapped in Sensafin upholstery with decorative stitching as standard. There’s also a large panoramic sunroof.

The BMW X7 comes with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning with active steering interventions, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, Rear Collision Prevention with exit warning, Speed Limit Info and manual Speed Limit Assist.

It can be purchased in the following colours:

  • Sparkling Copper Grey Metallic
  • Blue Ridge Mountain Metallic
  • Skyscraper Grey Metallic
  • Mineral White Metallic
  • Black Sapphire Metallic

The interior can be configured in black or cognac.

BMW Malaysia has generously packaged the X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with the free scheduled service programme included.
