Bentley Releases Speed Edition 12 Variants On 4 Models
The Bentley Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT and Continental GT Convertible get Speed Edition 12 variants.
Bentley, renowned for its exceptional engineering and performance, is paying tribute to its iconic W12 engine with the limited-edition Speed Edition 12 as the engine gets phased out. Since its debut in 2003, the W12 engine has powered Bentley’s performance flagships and played a significant role in the brand’s success.
The Speed Edition 12 models, based on the Bentayga, Flying Spur, Continental GT, and Continental GT Convertible, embody the culmination of two decades of engineering excellence.
The Extraordinary Bentley W12 Engine
In 2003, Bentley introduced the W12 engine, revolutionizing the company’s powertrain capabilities. Serving as the heart of the first all-new model under Volkswagen Group ownership, the Continental GT, the W12 engine showcased unprecedented power, efficiency, and refinement. With its unique W-formation and 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged design, the W12 engine was 24% shorter than an equivalent V12, without compromising on performance.
Over the years, continuous innovation has led to a remarkable 37% increase in power, a 54% increase in torque, and a 25% reduction in emissions. The Speed Edition 12 models feature an impressive 659PS (650 bhp) @ 5000-6000 rpm, ensuring exhilarating performance. The renowned Bentley “tidal wave” of torque reaches a peak of 900Nm at just 1500rpm, continuing unabated through to 5000 rpm.
Exterior: Subtle Elegance
The Speed Edition 12 models boast subtle yet distinctive exterior enhancements, showcasing understated distinction. Notable features include silver brake callipers, exclusive to this limited edition. The Continental GT and Convertible models sport Speed Edition 12 badging on the front fender, while the Bentayga and Flying Spur models carry Edition 12 badges on the rear quarter, in addition to the existing Speed badge.
Opening the bonnet reveals a numbered Edition 12 plaque proudly displayed on the engine’s cover. Further exterior highlights include Blackline specification exterior brightware, striking 22″ black painted Speed alloy wheels, and self-levelling wheel badges. For those seeking a touch of individuality, the Opalite paint color option offers a captivating light grey-green hue with a subtle copper effect, radiating a mesmerizing glow in bright sunshine.
Interior: A Masterclass in Craftsmanship
Stepping inside the Speed Edition 12 models, one is greeted by an interior that exemplifies meticulous craftsmanship and individuality. Edition 12 welcome lamps and illuminated treadplates add an exclusive touch. Bentley’s Speed color splits are available for all Edition 12 models, allowing customers to choose between Beluga black as the sole upholstery color or complement it with Brunel blue, Cricketball red, Linen, or Orange. The high gloss Grand Black veneer accentuates the interior’s opulence. Noteworthy interior features include seats with Mulliner Silver piping and embroidered Edition 12 namestyle.
The upper seat areas are quilted and contrast stitched in a stunning three-color fade from Anthracite through Porpoise to Stratos. The quilted door panels further accentuate the interior’s refinement. An exceptional detail is the organ stop air vents, showcasing the numeral “12” machined from solid on the control face. Adding to the allure, the Grand Black veneer fascia facing the front seat passenger displays the firing sequence of the W12 engine alongside an inlaid Speed Edition 12 badge.

To further commemorate this momentous occasion, customers who purchase the Speed Edition 12 models will receive a unique and exquisite memento—a precise 15 percent scale model of the Bentley W12 block. These miniature W12 engine blocks are cast using aluminum extracted from a full-size W12 engine block, ensuring their authenticity and significance.
