Ora 07 EV Now Open For Booking In Malaysia
The GWM Ora 07 electric vehicle is now open for booking, with pricing to be revealed soon.
GWM Malaysia has opened the order books for their 2nd electric vehicle launch – the Ora 07. Many will remember its “younger sibling”, the Ora Good Cat for being the first of many Chinese-built electric vehicles to be launched in Malaysia. That was at the end of 2022, the 07 comes more than a year later with a more solid showroom and service network, more brand recognition and more local acceptance of electric vehicle and Chinese-made vehicles.
The GWM Ora 07 is sold in other markets as the Lightning Cat. In Thailand, it’s sold between 1.3M Thai Baht and 1.5M Thai Baht, which is about RM173K to RM200K, much more than the Good Cat’s current Malaysian retail price that goes up almost RM170K. That being said, you are getting a lot more with the 07.
The first thing to note is the impressive range. GWM is claiming 640km of range on the single motor variant, which is a huge step up and it still comes with 204PS and 340Nm of torque. For context, the best the Good Cat can deliver is 470km. That being said, these CLTC ranges should be taken with a grain of salt.
If you want more power, the dual motor all-wheel drive Ora 07 has a total system output of 408PS and 680Nm of torque, which allows it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. It has a pretty impressive range of 550km despite the added weight and performance.
Another appealing factor is the 07’s design. While the Good Cat can come across as a little feminine and maybe a little too quirky, the 07 is a much more serious looking product. It has the lines of a shrunken down Porsche Panamera complete with frameless windows and an adaptive rear spoiler. Plus, without the feline-themed branding its appeal to the general public might actually be stronger.
The Ora 07 comes with safety features such as lane departure, lane keeping, and blind spot monitoring systems. It features a 360-degree parking camera, intelligent evasion, traffic sign recognition, cruise speed limit, overspeed alarm and more.
GWM Malaysia will offer the Ora 07 in two variants and three colours – Crystal Purple, Amethyst Gray and Jada White.
