0Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company Takes Over Peugeot
Stellantis officially starts selling cars in Malaysia today under the Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company.
Last week, we got news that the Bermaz Auto Alliance would be relinquishing its distribution rights and aftersales support over the Peugeot brand. At the same time, Stellantis – Peugeot’s actual parent company – officially starts its public-facing operations in Malaysia under the Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company, or Stellantis Malaysia for short.
If you own a Peugeot, Citroën or DS vehicle in Malaysia, you can get warranty and aftersales support directly from Stellantis Malaysia by contacting the toll-free number 1800-18-7852. Roadside assistance will be available 24/7, but general enquiries will only be available between 8.45 am and 5.45 pm. You can also email [email protected].
One of the first launches we can expect from Peugeot under Stellantis is the all-new 408, which adopts a stylish crossover coupé silhouette.
Jamie Francis Morais, Managing Director of Stellantis Malaysia said, “Stellantis Malaysia is an exciting start and new business chapter for us here in Malaysia. Our priorities are four-pronged – accelerating market growth, expanding product portfolio, creating new dealership opportunities nationwide, and subsequently providing improved customer experience. This includes expanding our dealer network nationwide and building a stronger presence in East Malaysia.”
Besides taking over the reigns of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia from Bermaz Auto Alliance, Stellantis Malaysia will also be launching cars from other brands. Some of the top candidates include the Citroën C3 Aircross, Alfa Romeo Tonale MHEV and Jeep Wrangler.
“We thank Bermaz Auto for their efforts as the custodians of the PEUGEOT brand in Malaysia since December 2020. With the establishment of Stellantis Malaysia, we are committed to continuing the growth of PEUGEOT and the prospects of bringing in a wider range of vehicles from other brands under the Stellantis portfolio whilst focusing on enhancing the lives of our customers through our products and services. We will start with a focus on PEUGEOT, which is a dynamic and innovative brand that possesses an Alluring line-up that we are very excited about,” added Morais.
Stellantis Malaysia will also be maximum the use of their Gurun plant to assemble cars for local sale and regional export. They’ve invested RM2 billion in the plant to allow it to produce cars on the STLA Medium platform, which underpins vehicles with internal combustion engines, battery electric powertrains and also mild hybrid powertrains in between. This opens up the possibility of multi-brand local assembly.
