XPENG G6 Achieves Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

Will the XPENG G6 see more sales in Malaysia then since we value safety so much here?

XPENG Motors (XPENG), a prominent Chinese smart electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has announced that its electric ultra-smart coupe SUV, the XPENG G6, has achieved a prestigious five-star safety rating from the 2024 Euro NCAP. Euro NCAP’s five-star safety rating is a rigorous benchmark for vehicle safety across Europe.

It provides a thorough assessment of how well vehicles protect occupants and other road users during crash scenarios. The evaluation process involves demanding real-world crash simulations and various other tests to assess critical safety aspects, including occupant protection, road user safety, and advanced driver assistance systems

Moreover, as technological advancements evolve, Euro NCAP’s rating system adapts, helping consumers make informed decisions and driving manufacturers to prioritise safety in vehicle design. The XPENG G6’s outstanding safety performance results from advanced engineering and manufacturing innovations.

The G6 features torsional stiffness of up to 41,600 Nm/deg, achieved through China’s first front and rear integrated die-casting technology. This cutting-edge approach increases stiffness by 83 percent compared to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. By integrating over 300 components from traditional ICE designs into two unified structures, this technology enhances impact resistance and optimises weight management.

On top of that, battery safety is also a crucial focus for the XPENG G6. The vehicle incorporates a three-layer anti-collision structure and eight anti-collision compartments, providing pressure resistance of up to 50 tonnes. This design ensures the highest level of protection for the vehicle’s power source.

Additionally, the G6 is equipped with six airbags, offering comprehensive coverage for all occupants from front to rear. The safety rating also reflects the G6’s comprehensive XPILOT safety features, which are designed to safeguard passengers during collisions.

The vehicle includes forward, side, and rear collision prevention measures that work together to manage crash forces, reduce impact acceleration, and minimise injury risks to occupants. This achievement follows XPENG’s earlier success in securing a five-star safety rating for the international version of the XPENG G9 in December 2023 and the XPENG P7 in October 2023, marking the company’s third five-star rating to date.

Brian Gu, Vice Chairman and President of XPENG, commented on the achievement: “These results highlight not only the superior safety credentials of XPENG vehicles but also our ongoing commitment to developing vehicles that prioritise safety.” So since Malaysians value safety so much, will the XPENG G6 see phenomenal sales at RM165,000?
