Mercedes-Benz E-Class On Sale In Malaysia Today Was The Safest Car Tested By Euro NCAP Last Year

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class claimed the top spot in terms of safety according to Euro NCAP.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has emerged as the safest vehicle tested by Euro NCAP in 2024. The executive sedan launched in Malaysia last year as well, achieved the highest overall safety score across all categories tested.

This recognition comes from Euro NCAP’s evaluation system, which assesses vehicles across four crucial safety categories: Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection, and Safety Assist Technologies. The E-Class’s exceptional performance in these areas reinforces Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to safety innovation.

In the competitive Small SUV segment, several models familiar to Malaysian car buyers demonstrated impressive safety credentials. The Zeekr X, which recently entered the Malaysian market, claimed top honors in both the Small SUV category and as the safest Pure Electric vehicle of 2024. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as it outperformed established European manufacturers.

The Volvo EX30, another recent addition to Malaysia’s growing electric vehicle lineup, showcased strong safety performance in the Small SUV category. The two vehicles are related, both being built in the same factory in Ningbo. Meanwhile, the Porsche Macan also demonstrated excellent safety credentials in Euro NCAP’s rigorous testing procedures. The Macan EV was also very recently introduced to the Malaysian market with four variants in total.

Looking ahead, Malaysian car buyers can anticipate the arrival of the Deepal S07 via Bermaz, which impressed in the safety tests alongside its competitors. The Xpeng G6 another Bermaz-distributed entry that is already making waves in Malaysia’s premium electric vehicle segment, further validated its safety credentials through these tests. That being said, Euro NCAP did not knock marks off the vehicle’s safety rating despite having a hidden mechanical door handle override that may pose a danger in a serious accident should the electronic door latch fail.

The strong performance of these vehicles in Euro NCAP testing is particularly relevant for Malaysian consumers, who increasingly prioritize safety features alongside luxury and performance when making automotive purchases. These results provide valuable insights for prospective buyers in Malaysia’s premium car segment, where safety technology continues to be a crucial differentiating factor.
