smart Malaysia may not be the biggest or most popular EV brand here in Malaysia but yesterday at the highly anticipated Malaysia Autoshow 2025 that will be taking place at MAEPS, Serdang, it certainly drew a huge crowd buzzing with excitement as it previewed its smart #5 and opened limited bookings for irs smart #1 BRABUS.
The smart #5 is a bold new entry into the premium electric SUV market. With a rugged yet refined design, the SUV features a distinctive boxy silhouette, panoramic halo roof, frameless doors, and dual-tone details that embody smart’s evolving design language. Measuring 4,695mm in length with a 2,900mm wheelbase, it combines road presence with functionality.
Moreover, on the inside, the smart #5 is built for both comfort and versatility with a one-button Comfort Mode, ambient lighting with 256 colours, oak wood trim and rear seats that fold flat into a king-size suite. It offers 1,530 litres of rear storage, a 72-litre frunk and 34 compartments, making it ideal for active lifestyles.
The vehicle’s smart OS, powered by an AMD V2000 chip and Unreal Engine, delivers immersive digital experiences through a 25.6-inch AR-HUD, dual 13-inch displays, and AI voice assistant “Leo.” A 20-speaker Sennheiser system with ambient lift-up speaker enhances the in-car experience.
On top of that, the smart #5 also boasts a 100kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 590km and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 15 minutes with 800V fast charging. It also supports off-road adventures with multiple terrain modes and a 3.3kW V2L power outlet for outdoor needs. Bookings are now also open for the limited-run smart #1 BRABUS.
This variant features a lowered stance, aerodynamic enhancements and exclusive 19-inch Monoblock Z wheels. Inside, it sports BRABUS exclusive design touches like red accents and aluminium pedals. Pricing will be revealed by June 2025 and visitors who book a smart vehicle can enjoy early test drives, complimentary upgrades, a 10 percent rebate and 4 years free service on select models.
