The New Hyundai Tucson Arrives with a Striking Redesign and Smarter Powertrains
Hyundai Motor Malaysia has officially introduced the new Hyundai Tucson, joining the Santa Fe and Staria in a trio of key launches that mark the brand’s direct entry into Malaysia. Starting from RM143,888, the new Tucson brings a thoroughly modern aesthetic, refined tech features, and — for the first time in Malaysia — a hybrid powertrain.

A longtime bestseller globally, the Tucson enters the Malaysian market with a bold new exterior that includes a parametric jewel grille, integrated LED DRLs, and sharp rear design elements. This strong presence is matched with a spacious and tech-forward interior, highlighted by a 12.3” panoramic curved digital display, floating centre console with shift-by-wire controls, and fingerprint recognition for driver profile access.

Three Variants, Three Powertrains
- 2.0L MPI Style (RM143,888) 156 PS / 192 Nm, 6-speed auto, 5-seater, 17” alloys
- 1.6T-GDi Prime (RM164,888) 180 PS / 264 Nm, 7-speed DCT, 5-seater, Hyundai SmartSense ADAS
- 1.6T-GDi HEV Prestige (RM197,888) 235 PS / 367 Nm, 6-speed auto, hybrid electric motor, 7-seater, Surround View Monitor

Inside, the Tucson offers leather seats, a 6.6” digital air-con panel, and practical touches like a multi-tray crash pad. The Prestige hybrid variant adds a 12-speaker Bose audio system, making it the most premium Tucson offered locally.

Hyundai SmartSense Safety Comes Standard
Hyundai SmartSense ADAS is available on Prime and Prestige variants, bringing key features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Lane Keeping and Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance, and Surround View Monitor. Prestige models also include Remote Smart Parking Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist for added peace of mind.

With its dynamic design, diverse powertrain options, and advanced safety features, the new Hyundai Tucson caters to Malaysian drivers who value comfort, efficiency, and standout styling in their daily SUV.

While the pricing may not be as insanely low as what some new Chinese makes are offering, it’s essentially neck-and-neck with the Honda CR-V and a lot lower with the base model. Hyundai is a much more recognisable brand globally and this combined with the decent kit list and high tech could be great option in the mass market.
