Just a day ago on a stretch of road along Tanjong Katong Road South (this is in Singapore) collapsed on Saturday causing a sinkhole (Jul 26) which resulted in a compact car plunging into the water-filled hole (with its driver).
PUB (Singapore Public Utility Board) said that the sinkhole occurred adjacent to its existing worksite, near the junction of Tanjong Katong Road South and Mountbatten Road at about 5pm.
The female driver was rescued by workers and taken conscious to Raffles Hospital. Quick-thinking workers who were near the sinkhole that emerged in Tanjong Katong Road South on Saturday (Jul 26) used a rope to pull the driver of the car to safety.
Mr Pitchai Udaiyappan Subbiah, the site’s foreman, was working at a nearby site when he heard a loud sound.

Now the car that fell into a sinkhole along Tanjong Katong Road South was lifted out on Sunday (Jul 27 one day later) afternoon.
A crane was used to lift the blue compact car out of the hole before it was lowered back onto the road. Its windscreen was smashed, with the roof dented in.
Tanjong Katong Road South between Mountbatten Road and East Coast Parkway (ECP) will be closed until further notice for repairs, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Sunday morning.
